Just trying to understand the logic of the system.
Also any idea on a fix for the sensor?
TIA
All of the specifications have changed. Your theory makes sense yes and is around part of the issue but they have changed the way it operates now so this does not matter as much.

They will still fix the outdoor temperature later this year.

Re: Outside Temperature Sensor Problem

Not to stir the pot, but my outside air temp has been accurate, within 2 degress of known temperature. Should i expect it to get worse?
13.28.2 software

P.s. now i just need warm air to come out of the hvac...does hot at the highest setting, but all temps just seems like a fan temp to me. A/C works great.

The issue was not that the reading was accurate when it was actually displaying, but more so when the reading was programmed to update.

The original programming is to display the last temperature reading at shutdown unless the vehicle either sat turned off for more than 4hrs and 15 minutes or was driven at or above 40 mph for I think 4 miles or something like that, IIRC. This is really apparent when you park the car at work, then leave for lunch. It can be 90 outside but the dash will still tell you it is whatever the temp was on the drive in, unless you've been parked long enough.

think you need to wait for cold temperatures! hard to test ac during winter months and hot air during the summer! did you tried the non auto? any difference?

That's true but as i was driving back on delivery day through the Virginia hills with the windows down and outside temps in the low 50's the entire temp range( on manual and auto) just seem to a fan. No heat until the hi heat setting and then it would be too hot. I've gotta be able to drive with the windows down even during cooler weather...i hope.

We've had our 2014 Summit for about a week. Love it so far but I just noticed today the outside temp was reading 63 on a day when it was 86. This was on numerous short trips - it kept reading 63. Someone mentioned going over 40 or waiting a few hours might help. Guess ill find out.

Welcome to JeepGarage...

There is an issue with slow updating of the temperature... There should be an update late in the year but keep an eye here, we will certainly be talking about it.

Has there been an Update for the slow updating of the sensor yet?

Re: Outside Temperature Sensor Problem

....three flashes later and my outside temperature is still inaccurate between 4-8 degrees. Mindblowing to me that jeep can't get this resolved....

TMK, the outdoor temperature sensor flash update is not available as of yet. The updates you have received would have not been related.

Always wondered this when people post.. what are you using as your baseline for determining accurate temperature?

Also, what flashes did they do since I've seen it posted many times the update isn't until the end of this year or early 2014?

Re: Outside Temperature Sensor Problem

I find it disturbing that this fix is still not out. Even more disturbing is that current production may still have the same issue.
