No...that's your made-up assumption, not mine. I never uttered the word "pride".

Wage though IS an excellent indicator of experience, level of responsibility, and how much training that person has received.

With that said, let's face the facts...Chrysler simply doesn't reimburse enough for warranty work for the dealerships to put their more experienced people on certain jobs. Period.

While this is generally true, techs today go into specialties and shop work is allocated based on individual specialties and training, if possible.

You're right. You called them monkeys in a prior post and then insinuated based on their socioeconomic status (making $15 or less per hour) they were incapable of completing the job satisfactorily.

I would assume from your middle class perch, presumably in corporate America, you'd know that there are plenty of people making $250k and more a year that are incapable of a satisfactory job as well?

Re: Overland leather dash issues

I just purchased a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland and the dash is bubbling up as well - exact same situation. I didn't notice it when I purchased the car a few days ago. It has 36,777 miles on it. I took it to the jeep dealership and am waiting on a reply from them. This should not be a problem for a 2014 with 36,777 miles. If jeep does not cover it the cost to replace the dash is almost 2,000 dollars. This is ridiculous for a luxury edition jeep.

Taking it for a warranty repair but I'm afraid they'll have to take the whole dash apart and then the car will creak and rattle after they put it back together.

This is my first jeep and apart from that, I could not be happier. Nicest truck I've even driven.

Re: Overland leather dash issues

I have a 2011 Overland and the dash board is bubbling up as well. I assumed the previous owner (I'm the second owner) kept it in the sunshine for long periods of time without covering it up in the heat. It only had 34K miles on it when I bought it 2 years ago. It hasn't worsened any, but it is still slightly noticeable in the middle of my dashboard in the daytime. I absolutely love everything else about my Jeep though. It's my 3rd Grand Cherokee I've owned (and my 5th Jeep overall).

Re: Overland leather dash issues

The jeep dealership is going to replace the dash on my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland. I am paying a $100.00 for the labor and dash which would cost well over $2,000. My only concern is this going to happen again in another 30,000 miles. I miss my cheaper Limited edition that did not have a leather dash.

Re: Overland leather dash issues

My dealership is replacing the leather dash on my 2012 Overland for $250.00, so you got a better deal than me. They are charging me $1,300 to replace a headlight module which reportedly has a short which is causing my blind spot sensors, back up sensors and backup camera to not function. I have the max warranty, but it so far hasn't covered much.

Re: Overland leather dash issues

I have a 2014 overland and the leather on my dashboard has been coming unglued for a while now and it's just getting worse. I have contacted Chrysler corporate office and my local dealership Ron carter and after them going back and forth they got back to me to inform me that the service manager will pay $300 towards the repair. That amount is only a small portion of the repair so I will be paying well over $1,000 if I want this fixed. They say that's all they can do for me because I'm over my warranty miles and there is no recall on the dashboards as of now. I really don't know what to do at this point. I have read multiple stories on this same issue with the over lands and every outcome is different. I have a 2 year old car that the dashboard looks well over 10 years old or more. I'm to the point I need to get this to the local news so the public is aware and maybe Chrysler will do something about it.

It is a defect. Your warranty covers defects. The warranty expires after 3 years or 36,000 miles. You are not 'entitled' to anything. But, we are in an entitlement state of mind in this country so I'm sure if you push, somebody in the food chain will throw you a bone.

Good luck!

Question, why didn't you show it to them when it first started? It might have been a easy fix.
