Re: Overland leather dash issues

When I took it in to have all the other recalls done on it I told them about the dashboard. The dealership told me I was over the mileage to have if replaced. Then I started doing research and found others had different outcomes so I called Chrysler corporate office. Still no luck!!

Re: Overland leather dash issues

I'm in a similar situation with my Dash. I just bought a 2012 JGC from an auction and did not get to see this before I bought it. I have an appointment in 3 Days from now with the Jeep dealership to see what and if they can fix it. When I talked to one of tech's on the phone he mentioned that Jeep came out with some kind to treatment for this issue. I will follow up in a few days. my Jeep has 88K miles on it.

What was the treatment that jeep came out with for the issue?

Please keep us posted on what treatment Chrysler is using. Hope it makes it here to the Northeast. I tried corporate also about it, no luck.

this has apparently been going on since the 2011s look at some of these pictures this is what I'm worried they get to quickly now that it has begun. crazy its not just a few bubbles but they are completely separating.

you'd think if there was some type of a treatment like the tech mentioned above that there would be a TSB out on it.

Re: Overland leather dash issues

SilverMax and CraigZ,

Sorry for the late reply, heres an update on my dash and the treatment. So a few days after I made a post about my dash leather coming away someone from Jeep Cares reached out to me. They said there is no treatment for the dash and that I can replace it with a new dash that has a different formula adhesive. The total cost to replace a dashboard would be $2400 and Jeep HQ offered to pay for half of the cost. I took a few days to think about it and decided to accept their offer. I took it in on a Tuesday, and by Wednesday it was ready for pick up. The guy at the dealership knocked it out in one day and they only ended up charging me $750 for the part and Labor.

My experience was wonderful with Jeep Cares, If you have an issue with your dash I suggest you reach out to them if you have not already.

Re: Overland leather dash issues

I guess what bothers me about all this is the inconsistency. Some people they are not covering at all some they are covering completely and others pay half the cost. Just seems to depend on who with Jeep or the dealers you talk to and if their coffee was good or bad that morning. If we were talking about small amounts of money that's one thing but $2400 is a lot of money to be charged or not charged depending who you happen to speak with from jeep. They need a more constant approach to this.

Re: Overland leather dash issues

Had the dash replaced on my 2011 Overland, in warranty, took 3 dashes to be ordered to get a decent looking one, but the dealer / tech did a fantastic job and Chrysler covered the entire repair plus rental, well over 3k. My 2014 Summit has not had any issues with the dash, and my 2011 has had no recurring issues.

Re: Overland leather dash issues

I recently purchased a 2014 GC Overland with 27,000 miles and it too is plagued with the wrinkled dash issue. Unfortunately, I just learned my Jeep was 21 days out of warranty by time. As of today, I'm about 45 days out of warranty, by time. I took my Jeep to one of our local Jeep dealerships to inquire about the possibility of a warranty repair only to be informed this is a common problem on any GC with a leather dash and FCA does a dance each time a Jeep's warranty expires since they no longer are liable for the warranty repair. You can imagine my shock and despair. After searching the forum, I stumbled on this thread where it seems there are a plethora of outcomes for fellow Jeep owners with the same dash issue. At this point, I don't know where to begin to seek assistance. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. I did follow AllenD23's advice and sent a PM to 'jeepcares' and hopefully I will receive a response. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Brandon

How bad is it lift/bubbling? Do you have pictures? That is what i debate on take it in when it is starting or wait until it gets worse for better shock effect that they may cover it. I just dont like the ramdomness of them covering or not covering a $2400 item.

Re: Overland leather dash issues

Below are my dash pics. I contacted Jeepcares through the forum and receive a response. Jeepcares asked me to forward pics for review. They advised each request for assistance is reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Hence, the reason for inconsistency in assistance. I forwarded my pics, as requested and received phone call the next day to advise of the outcome.

I was informed my warranty had expired, albeit by three weeks but there was nothing they could do to assist. When I asked for the reason why, as several on the forum had received, I was given the response again: "everything is reviewed on a case-by-case basis". Apparently my Jeep didn't make the cut. Hopefully others with the same issue will have better luck, but I wouldn't recommend getting one's hopes up.

I was able to take my Jeep to a high-end reputable upholstery shop in Houston and they said the dash issue is one that has been plaguing FCA vehicles for years now and it isn't limited to just Jeeps. They recently repaired a leather dash on a Viper. They are confident they can repair the issue. The windshield will have to be removed for access and they use a strong adhesive along with heat to reset the leather. The cost (provided the windshield doesn't crack upon removal) will be $375. If I need a new windshield, this will be a few hundred more.
