Overland Wheels Cloudy?

I noticed when I first bought my MY15 Overland the 20" wheels seemed to have this cloudiness in them, underneath the clearcoat. I tried to polish it out but it is very noticeable in direct sunlight.

The dealer says there is no issue, but to me it looks like junk. I know it may seem like a reflection but it isn't.

Does yours look like these?

Thanks!
Scott

Are these pictures taken before or after you attempted to polish them? It's kind of hard to determine what this is as there appears to be hard water spotting on your wheels from washing.

If you believe that whatever this is is under the clearcoat then no amount of polishing will remove this without stripping the clearcoat finish off.

These OEM wheels are not not fully polished... they look more like they're brushed so you will see some imperfections, swirls, etc. in the surface.

Thanks for the reply.

No there are not any hard water spots on them. I think the fact they are brushed aluminum with a clear over them is exactly what the problem is. I really want to like this Jeep but I had higher expectations for it than I am experiencing.

Thanks again!

They're not cloudy at all.
The finish on the rims is a machined finish, usually using a CNC machine.
All outer facings are machined and the inners are painted, then a clear coat is applied over the top of the entire rim.

That's how they are supposed to look.

I personally love the look! This was one of the reasons I liked the Overland overthe Summit. Those rims are too blingy for me and don't represent the true 'Jeep' image!

One of the same reasons I too chose the Overland over the Summit. So let's be clear on what my complaint is.

There are portions of cloudiness when the sun hits these rims on the spoke portion. You can see it in my pictures and it's not a refelction of the pavement.

I like the look of machined with painted pockets, but this cloudiness, swirls, whatever to me looks tacky. I have had machined faced wheels in other vehicles that didn't look like this.
