Question P076F Error Code

On the way home this morning, I found my 2014 Summit (V-6/4WD) was stuck in 7th gear after a few rough upshifts while descending a shallow hill. Eco and Sport modes were not available. The CEL was on all the way home and the Transmission Temperature maxed @ 244F. Fluid level is OK and the fluid looks/smells normal.

When I arrived at home, I backed into the driveway (prepare for the worst) and it worked OK in Reverse. I shut off the engine, restarted it, and then drove it up the road and back. The transmission then worked OK and the temperature dropped to ~210F. The CEL remains on.

The error code as read on the OBD-II reader was "P-076F - Gear 7 Incorrect Ratio" (Duh!).

Calling the dealer in another hour or two to set up an appointment.

Any ideas what would cause this?

Lightbulb Re: P076F Error Code

Update: The Jeep went to the dealer's this morning, and drove perfectly all the way there. The CEL went out a couple of days (and start/stop cycles) later. Within an hour, they told me there were a few software updates (transmission, BCM, etc.) due, along with the brake booster shield recall and annual inspection. Beyond that, they will be replacing the transmission valve body; apparently, the replacement part has been redesigned, as there have been a few failures noted lately.

I expect to hear from them tomorrow. In the meantime, I was loaned a 2013 Avenger (no, they did not have a spare Hellcat to loan out ).

Re: P076F Error Code

I had the problem with being stuck in 7th some time ago. Go up a rise and it would downshift to 7th like you'd expect it to. Going downhill or leveling off and it would stay in 7th and not upshift back to 8th for quite some time... miles even.

They reflashed something, I believe there was a TSB for it. Never had the problem again.

Just drove it home and it shifts better than I can recall since first buying it a year ago. So far, it is very smooth. My hat's off to the crew at D'Amico Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep.
