Paint pimples in 15 HA hood

Anyone know anything about auto paint? Just found these pimples in my 15 HA hood. Is this something I need to worry about getting worse or am I OK to leave it alone? Sucks this has such a crappy paint job for such an expensive vehicle. About 15 of them in total. They are very small about the size of a pen tip. I guess it's dirt in paint???

Sadly is very common in most all brands now. QC went out the door years ago. My15 has a few. The dealer may be able to have some buffed down if there in the clearcoat. Most cases your better off to leave them as some dealer detailers have very little experience and may cause more harm than good

I appreciate the info. I think they are in the clear but being close to the edge concerns me. And yes I am concerned with the dealer jacking things up worse than they are. My only concern is will this get worse or lead to more showing up???

Re: Paint pimples in 15 HA hood

It looks like airborne contamination in the painting process. I doubt they'll get worse or lead to more. If it was me I'd leave it alone. As stated, the dealer could end up making it worse trying to fix it. And Granite Crystal is not easy to paint match if they do.

Re: Paint pimples in 15 HA hood

I got lucky with my 15 white HA as the paint is flawless!! My 14 Summit had a couple small defects here and there though. One being what looked like a gnat (fly) that landed in middle of the driver door and got painted over lol.

That's what I thought on my 15 overland. Thought it was flawless until I spent a day detailing it. Found about a dozen little buggers that ya can only see with certain lighting at just the right angle. White is harder to spot them than darker colors

But it seems to hide the orange peel much much better.

I wish I could, but I traded in that Jeep last month and never did take a picture of it. Best way to describe it is just imagine painting a wall or something and you paint right over a small bug and the paint eventually dries with the bug in it. That's what it looks like on the driver door of my Jeep lol. Obviously you cant really see it unless you are fairly close or looking for it, but you can definitely feel and see it.
I must say though that I am very pleased with the paint on my Dec 2015 built High Altitude. Clear coat seems to have less orange peel than my '14 Summit did, and so far I have not found a single defect in the paint. Its great!

I have a buddie who owns a body shop. I'll run it buy and see what he says. And yes Ford is horrable and does not know how to prep their aluminum hoods. Just hate that we pay so much for these things and they can't even do a decent paint job.
