Paint problems on white 2012 Overland?

I have a white 2012 Overland that is six months old.

I have found seven places where the paint is missing. All of them are inside door jams, in the hatch area, etc, so none are visible when the doors are closed. Two are on the back side (inside) of doors (not seen unless you open the door).

They appear to be where dirt or debris was left during the painting process, as they are mostly small dots or chips and they lack primer and paint and they keep appearing (or I just keep noticing more). Several were small paint bubbles that when I rubbed them paint came off. I am sure they all were bubbles, but the others may have been rubbed when cleaning and I didn't notice at the time that paint was coming off.

Dealer is fixing them but I fear that the car was not properly prepped and that more and more will appear over time. Also confused that all are inside areas....so far no paint on exterior has shown defects. Are the inside hatch and door jams painted differently?

I noticed the first three after owning car for a week and now it seems I find a new one each time I wash it.

Anyone else having this problem?

I have found a few paint defects on my exterior both rear doors and one on my roof on my stone white.. Mine are more like something is under the paint. Like a speck... I chalked it up to jeeps QC since my jeep was far from perfect from day 1... Mine was built march '12

Re: Paint problems on white 2012 Overland?

I have paint isssues on a mineral greay overland summit. there is a spot where there is debris or just bullbing paint as you describe. Also the paint is inconsistent across the whole car as well. in certain lights you can see that the paint is sprayed unevenly leaving the car in spots less greay than others. You can see 1 inch round spots where i suppose it was suppose to spray evenly but never made it.

I also have one spot which bubbled out and now can see down to the metal. Clearly a rock didnt hit it as it looks like a pimple that burrst outward.

In the rain or shade the inconsitencies do not show up as well as when it is in daylight.

Hope to give it a more thorough examination as soon as time and sun permit.

A few of mine started as small bubbles or specks, that when rubbed took the paint off all the way to metal! Not sure of the others as they just appeared one day.

I have a new 2013 SRT8 and the paint is falling of the roof in bits as big as your thumb nail, the dealer is going to repaint it but is this why I spent 85K to have a repainted car after 12 week from delivery ??

Re: Paint problems on white 2012 Overland?

In reply to OP, I have a 2012 GCO in Stone White that I ordered from the factory. It was built during the last week of March, 2012 and I took delivery the first week of April. I have no paint defects or any problems whatsoever with my Jeep. I hope your dealer makes this right for you.
