Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

Paul,

Really appreciate the feedback. It would be great if you could share the info from the work order so I can use that when I take mine to the dealership. Thanks.

If you get a '14 Limited without the Lux II package you get no sunroof at all - that's how I configured mine. You can add a single-pane sunroof as an option, though.

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

I hope there's no problems with the '14 pano as there were in the past. I'll be watching here for issues. I'm stuck with it now, but glad I went with the Overland.

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

I have a question. I am mechanically inclined. I did all my work on my cars for 20 years. Starters, brakes, radiators, leaf springs, altinators,tune-ups (on my 60's 70's and 80's cars), 100's of oil changes & lubs till 2010, etc. etc. BUT !! How in Gods name does one get to the battery which is suppose to be under the passenger seat? LOL! I really haven't got under neath the Jeep yet to look around for I have stopped all mechanical work within the past 2-3 years due to physical problems. Still healthy but reduced to oil checks, transmission checks, tire pressure, wiper blades, and now I can't even check the battery because I can't find it. NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD EVER SAY THAT. Oh well, if any body can advise me I would appreciate it. Thanks Guys.

Put the passenger seat fully forward then titled fully forward. Open the rear door passenger side and pry open the panel under the front seat.

The battery is sealed and requires no maintenance.

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

Hey Yadkin, Thank you for the info. Amazing what one can do with a little knowledge. I received a copy of the work order today to fix my CREAK coming from the pano sun roof on my 2013 JGC limited. That's all it said was "sun roof frame failure, replace sun roof frame". Completely covered under the warranty. I am still enjoying the silence. Its a great stereo, I have about 40 of my fav. CD's stored on the hard drive, yet I don't listen to them, or Satelite, or CD's cause its still so great to drive around in total silence with no creaks. Time will come though, with a kick _ _ _ stereo like that time is coming. Regards, Paul Bernard

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

I just bought a 2013 overland couple of months ago and noticed a rattle at the rear pano glass, I took someone with me and had them check for the source and found that if they pushed up on the glass it stopped, so I tried adjusting it around with no resolve, pushed in rubber strip from a screen door and no luck so when I took it in for the first service I mentioned it the the service manager. When I showed him I just hit the glass with my fist lightly to replicate and he noticed the rattle and said "that's not right" so I left it with them Tuesday morning, before I got back to the office he called and said he had talked to tech assistance and there is an alert for this issue and the glass needs to be replaced, I told him about this forum and someone just got there frame swapped out but not the glass, he said based on my vin number it called for just the glass.

So I just picked it up this afternoon and drove it around for about 20 miles and as of now,,, no more rattle so far. I've read that a lot of people are concerned about dirty hand prints on the head liner but there were none on mine so I'm happy, this is my first post, I usually just lurk but wanted to share this story because I've read so much about it, hope this helps.
Hank

I just got my 2013 about 1500 miles ago and there was a minor rattle and I ended up pushing up on the fabric perimeter and noticed in the drivers rear corner it wasn't as tight as the others. So I pushed up decently hard and it felt like it locked into place and now the rattle seems to be gone so far.

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

I have owned a 2012 jgc limited, and custom ordered 13 jgc limited both have had the annoying rattle coming from the pan sunroof. The 13 is way worse, so after owning it for a month i finally took it to the dealership, they said there was an alert on the track, they replaced the track. Oh boy was that a mess took two weeks to order when they installed it they left my head liner dirty and damaged the headliner trim and the rattle was still there. I took it back they cleaned the head linner and replaced the damaged trim, they heard the rattle when i dropped the car off but after keeping it for a day magicly didnt hear it anymore. I picked it up and the rattle was back, i have noticed the rattle is worse the colder it is, i really thought it had to do with the glass expanding and contracting. I called the dealership to tell them what i thought and to ask them where we should go from here, they wre giving up. I called Jeep hq and lost it on them, this is a $46,000 brand new suv i demand it to be right. I am ready to lemon law this suv, they talked me into one last attempt to fix it so tomorrow i take it back to the dealership, where jeep engineers will meet me to work on my car for the next few days, maybe now we can get it fixed. There is a known problem with the glass not fitting right, they have to remove a few screws adjust the glass and retighten. I reccomend going right to jeep, these dealers are rough on cars and dont care to find the real problem. Now i have to get them to fix the leaking rear window.

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

I got it fixed too about 2 weeks ago. The frame was replaced and it seems to be fixed. Not a peep out of it... very nice. Here's what you do: if the dealer can't fix it, or if the dealer has no experience with it, have them call Marvin Yacoub in at corporate in Michigan at 586-274-8174. He will connect the dealer with an expert on the problem who is at Chrysler HQ by the name of Jeff Bither. Mr. Bither will work with the dealer step by step to first troubleshoot and then fix the problem. Good luck!

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

Interesting, it says 2012 - 2013. I've got a 2011 Overland that's had a rattle since day one in the Panoroof. So I guess I just keep driving with the radio up loud!!
