Anyway, just wondering what the roof rattle sounds like. Thx.

I have this too in what sounds like the same general area as you describe and I cannot figure out exactly where the rattle is coming from. Really annoying and only problem I have.

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

Has anyone with a 2011 Overland with the pano roof been able to get their dealership to execute the fix stated in the TSB a few pages back? I see that's a 2012-2013 TSB, and I can see a dealer crying foul on that issue for 2011. Thoughts?

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

Update! Rattle fixed. Dealership execute the clicking sunroof TSB for 12-13 on my 2011 and it is fixed. I drive around now with the radio off just to hear the quiet. Star recommended the TSB and they went with it.

Good luck. Let me know if you have any questions.

Smile Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

I have had my 2012 WK 2 for about 6 months and have had enough of the headliner, right side rattle. I brought the TSB in to the dealer, and was told it wasn't needed, the car was taken to the trim shop and I was called later in the day that it was ready.
Long story short-invoice indicated misalignment of right side pano rails due to loose bolts. It's strange after all the posting about this problem, everyone has the creaking, rattle on the right side.
Well the rattlle has apparantly stopped when I drove it home and listening very carefully with the radio off.
Lets see how long it lasts.

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

My pano had been clicking on the right side rear panel on-and-off since it was new. It wasn't that big a deal and was not that loud with the shade closed, and I rarely have it open anyway. I figured to wait as long as possible to let the dealer practice on other owner's vehicles before they tackled mine. I have a 60,000 mile extended complete coverage warranty by Zurich, and it includes rentals when the vehicle is getting serviced.

Two weeks ago it started clicking almost continuously on the rear edge so I took it in. I showed the service adviser and he agreed it was a problem. He called the next day and told me that Zurich needed to look at it, but could not do so until Monday so I needed to pick up the car and return the rental, which I of course did.

Today (Monday) I dropped the car off again and got another rental. The adviser just called and told me that Zurich will not cover the cost of the repair, they won't cover for a noise but only leaks.

I asked him why did they bother to have me make a second trip if they wouldn't cover the issue as I described it? He said that they just wanted to look at it. If they wanted to look at it they should have come to my house or business instead of wasting my time driving back and forth to the dealer twice.

Live and learn full coverage with Zurich does not mean full coverage. Never again will I spend good money to get an extended warranty.

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

This is why I always buy the Mopar Service Contract and not a third party warranty.

A Great example of why never to buy an Aftermarket extended warranty or service contract they are PITA and waste of money. The only service contract I will buy is the one from the manufacture like the Chrysler service contract those are fine.

As politely as I can put it, the dealer saw you coming. Dealer's like to push these third party service contracts because their rate of return on them is higher than on the real thing, Mopar ones. IMHO, you should never buy anything other than the real, genuine thing Mopar/Chrysler Service Contract.

Yep, you are exactly right, I had to ask the finance guy 3 times if they sold the Chrysler branded service contract, he kept peddling another one I had never heard of. The first two times I asked he deflected by saying this is the agreement we sell the most of or something like that.

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

Something that worked for me. I refused to purchase the Mopar/Chrysler Maximum Care Protection plan when I purchased my Jeep GC Ltd. A year later I found that a few chosen Chrysler Dealers through out the country sell the Mopar/Chrysler plan and it was almost $1000 less than the price my dealer offered me at time of purchase. So.... I printed all the info. off the internet FROM THOSE DEALER SITES and took it to my Dealer and asked if they would give me what they originally offered me at time of purchase for The Internet price and they said yes. CERTAINLY THEY WERE NOT EXCITED ABOUT THAT BUT THEY STILL WANTED ME TO BUY IT FROM THEM. I can't explain that but it is the real thing. If anyone knows how that works Id sure like to know. Actually I even got a better plan for my deductible is $50 not $100 as it would have been at time of purchase. I did this two other times before with other new cars I had purchased (both GM). I'm sure my Dealer still made money on it and now they have the Mopar/ Chrysler repair service instead of some other company. It does always seem the Manufacturers Service contract is the best one for the best coverage etc. I too had the loud clicking above the rear passenger door that drove my crazy. The dealer did fix it and its been several months now and has not returned. F.Y.I. Chrysler did call it a defective frame around the pano glass and that's what the dealer replaced according to the service bulletin. I was nervous about all that had to be taken off and replaced, but I guess I got lucky for it was done very well with good workmanship and no problems.

I took a similar approach but had the quotes on hand when I bought my car. You cut into their potential profit but no doubt they still made some cash from selling you a contract.
