Mine does too, returning to shop on Tuesday. This is my 7th. Jeep, really annoying, considering getting rid! Let me know how you get on, I'll post my result ( or lack thereof)

You bought an aftermarket warranty what did you expect? I guess its good they are still in business because a lot of times you don't even have that with those things. I myself would only consider a service contract from the manufacture. Thats why I have a Chrysler service contract.

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

Yeah, 8 speed frustmission is garbage, a little better since the recent dealer 'flash' though. It still holds low gear too long on an incline, but not nearly as poorly as when first purchased new. No, I'm sorry to say that this Jeep will shortly be replaced with some foreign brand offering! As stated previously, I have had countless of these things, but this, unfortunately will be my last..... Garbage and laufghable at that price point!

This is my follow up to my previous post on this forum topic.

Finally after a year of contemplating it, I had the dealer fix the pano-roof under the TSB. Yes, I too had all the same apprehensions about letting them take/tear down the headliner which is why I waited so long, but it was either that, or drive around this $48k Overland that sounded worse than my rental Dart!! So I bit the bullet and scheduled the appointment with my Dealer.

Now, it wasn't all smooth by any means, because of their crap job scheduling practices with their Machines, they ended up keeping my Grand Cherokee for 6-days; but did provide me a loaner. According to Chrysler, the job should take a day or less, but the Mechanic ended up tearing the sunshade and damaging the rear cross drain bracket, so additional parts had to be ordered; I know Mechanics are human and shit happens!! Trust me when I say I was fairly pissed by all this, but they did provide me car to drive (which most Jeep dealers around here don't), and I just kept my eye on the anticipated outcome of no rattles.

Finally after a week at the Dealership, I got it back, but found the (new) power sun shade wasn't calibrated and wouldn't park in the correct positions! After a second quick visit to have the calibration done, the pano-roof is now ALL perfect with no rattling, creaking, or popping sounds!!!

Lastly, there were just a few minor finger print stains to clean, but nothing those Clorox wipes couldn't remove (those things work really great on the light color headliner.)

So, after all is said and now done, I'm really very happy with the new pano-roof assembly and once again love driving my quiet Grand Cherokee...and proud to have others ride with me without feeling the need to explain all rattle noises from the roof (or keep the radio volume up so they can't hear it!!)

My advice: its a really big job and not ever Dealer has experience doing these, so there may be some minor bumps to deal with, but have it done, you'll really be glad you did!!

I started a new thread with this question but I probably should have asked in this one. I am having the work (the TSB frame replacement) done today for a bad rattle towards the back of the stationary part of the glass. is that where yours was?

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

Hey guys, not to deviate from the original topic but I was curious about something since some of you were talking about extended warranties. I elected at the time of purchase on my JGC Summit not to get an extended warranty. I was planning on getting it when I refinanced it 6 months from now with my credit union (they have companies that offer one). Now, I'm questioning this thought of mine. After reading what you guys are saying about getting a factory warranty I now want to go this route. So, I was curious if its better to go back to the dealer and buy it or buy it online at Chrysler Warranty Direct....they claim to be cheaper than the dealer. I just bought my 2014 Summit in November and it has 1100 miles on it ...if this matters any.

I also elected to not buy the Chrysler Warranty when I bought my 2013 JGC Ltd. A year later I went on line and looked up the price of the bumper to bumper and it was approx. $950 less than what the dealer offered when I bought the car. (Exact same plan). So I printed out the info from the Chrysler site and took it to my dealer and asked them if they could do the same thing. They reluctantly said YES so I bought it from them. They still made money on it just not as much. (For whatever its worth).

Hey Paul, I may go that same route that you did. So did you go online to the same site that I was mentioning: Chryslerwarrantydirect.com? I'm not sure if they are selling a true factory warranty or not...

The site I was on was MOPAR VEHICLE PROTECTION - Chrysler extender warranty. Maximum Care is the plan.

They give you all the plans, how many miles-years-or lifetime you might choose. Then just print out the one you want with the prices on it and give it a try. I can't imagine them saying no.

As my handle implies, I just got my first Jeep - the 2012 Grand Cherokee Limited. Bought it used from CarMax with 21K miles on it, and in fact I would not have bought it because I heard the creak/rattle in the panoramic moonroof on the test drive and was worried. However I went home, read all the posts in this forum, and found the TSB (http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_2301313.pdf). Based on that research I purchased the Jeep after taking the TSB to CarMax, which they agreed would be a free warranty repair that they'd complete before I took possession.

Fast forward ten days (took several days for them to get the new dual-pane sunroof frame assembly in stock) and the problem is fixed. The service guys got a bunch of fingerprints on the ceiling and moonroof cover, but my car detail guy was able to get those out no problem. I also read somewhere that those can be removed with Clorox wipes, though YMMV.

So BuckeyeSRT, to answer your question, yes - that's exactly where mine was. Above the passenger side rear door, near the grab handle.

Thanks to everyone in this thread who has posted about the issue. It was very helpful for me.

I have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee with 2000 miles and a constant rattle around the sunroof. Does body shop help at all?

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

I noticed a rattle behind my head while not on smooth roads. Had my sister drive while I hopped around in back looking for the rattle. Finally found it or made it quit by pushing up on the headliner between the sunroof and drivers side back door. Tried various things to fix it but had to take it to the dealer and they found a loose sunroof rail fastener. They tightened it and the rattle went away. This did involve pulling down the headliner part way
