Tried various things to fix it but had to take it to the dealer and they found a loose sunroof rail fastener. They tightened it and the rattle went away. This did involve pulling down the headliner part way
Just had this issue addressed by my dealer. It was BEYOND annoying. I think it's good now but they had to order some part and had to pull down the whole headliner.

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

Well I now have 66,000 miles on my 13 jeep GC, and the pano roof noise is still gone. Problem is, their is a new demon, a very loud rattle coming from the roof between the rear hatch window and the rear Pano glass. It only ROARS when I go over rough roads and bumps. Its extremely loud. If I had to guess its coming from the motor and /or mechanism that moves the power shade. Wish I knew how to remove the liner myself and find this extremely aggravating rattle. It was fun while it lasted(the quiet). I will never, ever, get another G.D. Jeep with glass in the roof. Well over a year of unhappy driving due to rattles between the pano noise and this. Other than that the jeep has been GREAT! Has any one else had this problem? Thanks Guys.

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

My 2012 was driving me nuts. I also suspected the motor or hardware. Heres what I did. If you look at the fasteners that hold the sunroof up they are a similar to velcro. There is a top and bottom. If you separate them and poke around you will find that one of the fasteners floats in a U channel. It appears to me, over time this channel wears and allows excessive movement of the fastener. What I did is take a small piece of butyl rubber and stuffed it around the sides of the fastener, to limit its movement, but not make it solid.

Be sure you use something that will not transfer to your hands it would be very easily to stain the headliner. The butyl rubber I used is windshield ribbon. The same stuff that some people use to seal headlight housings when doing a light upgrade.

This eliminated the rattle that some persons complain about when shutting a door on the vehicle. Along with the annoying noises when the body would flex.

Hope this helps and it is not something more involved in your GC

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

I have a 2015 summit that developed a rattle over the right rear passage door at about 2000 miles. Because of the work involved it was recommended the sunroof Frame be replaced rather than trying to find the problem and the rattle continue. My dealer is what I believe to be a real five star operation . A thirty year salary mechanic was assigned my car and there was no sign of the inside of my roof being dismantled. The noise was gone for exactly a year. This past August I brought my summit back in for the same noise I had last year. It was determined some screws were in need of being torqued to tightness. Hope this works.

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

Amazing that this still goes on with no definitive fix / recall. My 2011 Overland Pano Roof has rattled since day ONE, and I never had the nerve to let my dealer tear it apart. Have lived with it ever since. Sadly, it's the one thing on the vehicle that I've been unhappy with.

I know how you feel and I made sure the service manager new how I felt. The manager told me he would have a senior mechanic who is on salary and doesn't need to rush work on the summit, they had the vehicle two days. When the rattle came back recently and the screws where re-torqued that work did not seam overly intrusive, they had the vehicle a half day or so.
