Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

I too have this exact issue. Mine is starting to get even more frustrating all the time. I drive clients in my brand new Overland and can't stand when it rattles. I now also have a rattle in my passenger side kick panel area. Not looking good for the "the things we make make us" slogan!

Anyway, as for the dealership, my local dealership has always been phenomenal but for this issue, i'm getting frustrated. I called Chrysler support and they created a case. The issue is that the service manager was actually able to recreate the rattle while sitting in the car, over and over. But now they are saying I need to bring it back to have a tech recreate it. But sometimes it doesn't happen for days, so do I leave my means of making money at a dealership for days? Chrysler still hasn't created a TSB and when I told them to look at these forums, they said "we don't take online posts or google searches into consideration when creating TSB's". That's ridiculous. I'm on my 5th Jeep but i'm getting frustrated. If this were a Mercedes or BMW (which is who the price point is beginning to compete with) they would give me a loaner until it was fixed. Not Chrysler.

Anyway, I guess I have no choice but to leave it. The Dealership said that Chrysler won't let them replace the pano roof without proving it again...

Sorry for the rant, but i'm glad i'm not the only one.

Forgot to mention, mine rattles on both sides, passenger and driver, but passenger far more. I think it also happens much more when the chassis flexes, for example, when turning left at around 35-45mph my passenger side rattle almost always creeps up, especially on cement road surfaces with stress relief cracks. mine happens only when the sunroof is closed, but regardless of whether the sunshade is open or closed. It's also definitely a metal on metal sound.

Mine sounds as if the pano roof above the back seat is vibrating over bumps. If I pound lightly on my roof I can duplicate is sound.

Get a second person, have them press up on the headliner in the rear where the sunshade is. See if it helps and or eliminates the rattle. Even if you have Velcro it still may be rattling slightly.

sdlimited has a brilliant future
Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

I have this issue as well. It only happens when the pano roof is closed. It seem as though the rattle is coming from the center plastic piece that splits the roof in two.

This is very annoying on a 40k car. I dont think I should have to turn the radio up to get past this. My WK2 only has 900 miles on it.

That was my case I thought it was the plastic piece at first but quickly ruled that out by adding foam when it contacts the roof at two points and I also held it open with two microfiber towels to know it wasn't that.

Knock on wood I've fixed it so far by adding thick weatherstripping next to all the Velcro contact points on the rear headliner by the sunshade in between the headliner and the plastic that it meets up against.

I TOTALLY AGREE!! And what's even more annoying, is being afraid to bring it to the dealer, for fear they'll make something worse, and just having to live with it!!

If they ever made it worse bring it back until it's at least back to how it was... You also have the option the try other dealers in the area.
