Notes from my service receipt say mounting bolts on the sunroof track were loose. Also secured drain tubes with stick tape. No extra parts listed.

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

Interesting. Thanks.

That would coincide with what mine sounds like, and the symptoms it's exhibiting.

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

Took delivery of my 2012 GC Limited and since the first time I opened the sunroof, there is rattle now. Does not matter if it is opened, closed, partially opened/closed. The rattle is always there when I close my driver door. I can easily reproduce it by hitting the driver side corner of the pano sunroof with my hand.

I peeked inside the headliner and kind of pulled the headliner down a bit... i could not tell what's rattling there. I will take it to the dealer either tomorrow or the day after.

Funny thing is it did not make any rattling noise until I opened the sunroof the first time. I guess factory does not thoroughly test all vehicles... maybe they pick them at random.

Mines roughly the same area, however mine seems to be the glass, not coming from the headliner... It's like the part which opens is allowing very slight movement when you bang the fixed glass which creates the "rattle" I hear. The one service tech told me if it gets worse to come back as once you rip the headliner down you might have more rattles then when you brought it in. Although i do believe that, I also think he was being lazy and didn't want to pull the headliner and that was his answer, along with raising the radio.. Lame

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

Took an appointment for Friday... The service adviser said they need for the whole day. I will post back if they fixed it or made it worse.

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

Yeah I hear ya. Problem is, different people have noise/rattles coming from all different places, so it's not likely a single TSB will correct all of them......short of pulling everyone's headliners & panoroofs!

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

You're one of the lucky ones. I've tried this all around the area where I hear my rattle (above the passengers side rear, by the pano roof and rear door) and unfortunately have had no luck with this method!

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

Update: Just got the Jeep back... and no more rattles!!

They found 2 retaining bolts that holds the pano roof to be loose.. and they tightened them. No dirty headliners either. I am happy!! I love this Jeep!!

Re: panoramic sunroof rattles

Alright, so I'm back with an update from mine. After two more visits, a case with Chrysler, and several small attempts at fixes by the dealer, they are going to order some parts, drop the headliner and start the replacement of the track. They've recreated the rattle more than once with techs in the car. The most common way to get the rattle to happen is to simply close one of the four doors. Happens right away. My rattle is also directly adjacent to the rear passenger handle. pressing anywhere in the area stops the rattle, but that makes sense as that also reduce the vibration. I'm really hoping this fixes it and I'm really hoping they do this right, without damaging the headliner or that will need to be replaced as well. They are going to have my vehicle for four days, hoping they can get it done in that time as well. I'm very frustrated to say the least, this is nuts. They say there isn't a TSB to follow, and they say they don't follow "online posts" as potential TSB's (crap, Chrysler, listen to the damn customers, we're your best beta testers if you support us). Anyway, this is my fourth GC and it's had more rattles and issues than even my 93 did. Not a good sign, as it was also the most expensive of them all.

I agree that certain things are left alone, but when I had that rattle above my clients head for 2.5 hours on a trip across the state last week, I had enough!!! You can even hear it over some DJ Tiesto! NO BUENO.

Good luck to all, I'll let you know how things go when they are done.
