Sorry, but have you nothing else to think about? In Florida. It could wait a year or two and not be an issue.

I'm in California, and will wait until I have some other reason to go to a dealership. Who knows what they might damage trying to do get access to install this ring on the booster?

Whoa, hang on there. Nothing to worry about in Florida?
If you're living in Florida, then worrying about your cars brakes should be the last thing on your list.

Re: Part Availability for the Brake Booster Recall

I am not throwing a shit fit about this but I am mostly just concerned about the car. I don't want to wait and then forget about it. Also Snuke, why would everyone go to the same dealership? I understand that they won't have over 600K parts but the way Chrysler is handling the recall is really dumb. Chrysler released the recall details a few months ago before actually sending people the recall notices. They should have prepared the parts and sent them to dealers instead of playing games also, I just got my recall notice about 5 days ago.

And to FStephen I do not have time to worry when Chrysler is going to get the part to fix my car. If they issue a recall they damn well have the parts to fix those affected cars instead of making those owners wait for who knows when. I can't go out of the way because Chrysler is unprepared. Also it does not matter that I am in Florida or if the recall will even affect me all I care about is having a car that works when I need it to work and not having to worry about the brakes because with our inclement weather who knows how hot or cold it will get. Also how do we know for sure that the temperature has to be freezing? Does Chrysler really know that or can they be guessing? I know they probably ran "tests" but who really knows? I don't want to risk my brakes not working because of Chrysler not being prepared.

Sorry for the ranting (if it is sounding like a rant) but I am just a concerned owner that is not in the mood to get into an accident.

Re: Part Availability for the Brake Booster Recall

Okay, it's very clear you don't have the faintest idea of how a recall operates, and that's fine, why should you.

Who said anything remotely like that? Sure as hell I didn't.

So far you are basing how this recall is being handled on 3 things.
You saw the recall being announced.
You received a letter.
Your dealer told you they are sending one part every two weeks.

Let me tell you, out of those 3 points, one is just mind blowingly moronic. Do you really think that Chrysler would send each dealer one part every two weeks. You dealer doesn't know, and instead of saying so, they told you BS.

As they're legally required to do.

So you're saying they should brake the law and defy regulations, and wait until they have all parts rather than warning people of a possible issue first so people can be forewarned of the issue. They are not playing games, it is a simple process, and they are following it correctly. Notify everyone via press, send letters to affected owners, supply parts to dealers once produced. 867,795 cars world wide are affected by this. It will take a long time to make all of the required parts.

If they were legally allowed to contact you via email in regards to recalls, then you could have been notified immediately. This is exactly why they publish recall notices in the media as they did, you can get the news straight away rather than having to wait for 644,345 letter to be created and posted out around the US.

This is getting painful. This isn't Star Trek, they can't just materials parts for 867,795 cars overnight.

You don't have to do anything.

Are you saying your brakes don't work, or are very hard to press (the possible outcome of the fault). What's that, they work. Then stop stressing, they are doing their job as intended. You can unbunch your panties.

Are you trolling, because this is becoming a joke with a comment like that.
Heard of engineers? You know, the same people that put your car together in the first place. The same people that you at some point trusted enough to buy the car they created. Do you think they suddenly decided to take massive dosses of angel dust to melt their brains and decide that a bunch of fudged tests and results would be the way to go o help Chrysler blow a few more millions over a recall.

Read this article about how recalls work, maybe it will help you. - How Car Recalls Work | Autopia | WIRED

Go chill on the beach and relax, there is no conspiracy to screw you over. You're not in danger from this recall.

Re: Part Availability for the Brake Booster Recall

^^^Well said Snuke. If your really upset by this and hate it, then get rid of the vehicle. Do you think that any vehicles on the car lots that have this recall won't be sold? Hell no, people will still buy them as the dealer will tell them about the recall to be fixed when they get parts. I got the recall and I'm in no rush to get it done, when the parts come they come. Some people just need to chill with things as they aren't the only person in this world that have to go through it (That includes you to Bill!!)

Re: Part Availability for the Brake Booster Recall

This completely blew out of proportion. I am just a concerned owner. The only thing I am complaining about is the way that Chrysler is going about the recall. Also I can respond to all of your reactions and debate this but I simply do not have time to respond to all of the responses here. It was a simple question with information and my opinion.

As I said before, this blew out of proportion.

I would like to thank the people on this post who actually gave a reasonable response and did not criticize this post.

Also I do not have time to troll because it is a waste of my time and nothing good comes out of it.

Re: Part Availability for the Brake Booster Recall

It isn't even the brake booster, it's the shield itself so unless they find your booster be corroded you will get a new shield.

Re: Part Availability for the Brake Booster Recall

My Brake booster has Failed.

Almost cleaned up a car whilst reversing down the driveway and couldn't stop in time!!

Initially I was told at least 8 weeks, however amazingly the part has arrive today is is being fitted as we speak, only a week after I took it in.

I'll be interested to ask actually what the cause was. I live on the Gold Coast Australia( similar climate as Florida), so just saying maybe not just necessarily happening in cold climates??

I havent had the shield recall fitted yet - awaiting parts I've been told mid AUG.

Re: Part Availability for the Brake Booster Recall

It will be good to hear what the cause of the failure is. It may be this, it may be a separate issue. That said, they have an easy answer to give you and say it was related to the recall even if it actually had nothing to do with it.

FYI, your problem still says Melbourne.
