Chrysler released the recall details a few months ago before actually sending people the recall notices. They should have prepared the parts and sent them to dealers instead of playing games also, I just got my recall notice about 5 days ago.

GM is being blasted today for trying to do just that. They ordered 1/2 million ignition switches before issuing the recall.

You can't please all the people all the time.

Re: Part Availability for the Brake Booster Recall

I'm still waiting for my recall parts. Was put on the list back in the summer. I was told by a friend of mine that works for the dealership the reason they order and service 1 jeep for the recall every week is for insurance purposes. Guess it has something to do on Chrysler's end. When I spoke to the guy who put me on the list, he pulled up my information and seen my service history. My jeep had been in the service several times since I bought it in 2011 for thump and clicking noise of the break area up front as well as the hesitation of braking. He asked how my brakes were functioning and I had told him they still go down to the floor. He said he was going to talk to his manager and get my vehicle in asap. Here we are in January and still no call. Smh.

Stay after your dealer for this part. I never received a call back either after the initial inspection months ago, but when I called to schedule an appointment for the sun visor recall I mentioned the brake booster shield and my service advisor's response was..."Chrysler started shipping so many of these parts we couldn't keep up with who to call to tell them the part was in". Typical BS which I'm used to at this dealer. So I had the brake booster recall and sun visor recall taken care of at the same time. That being said -your dealer should have the part in by now.
Good luck to you.

Re: Part Availability for the Brake Booster Recall

I waited for more than six months for my dealer to get the brake booster part. I called and he told me it was still not available, and couldn't give me a promise date. I called a different dealer who had parts for all three recalls on my '11. Try a different dealer.

Thumbs up Re: Part Availability for the Brake Booster Recall

I called my dealer and I was told I moved to the top of the list. Apparently they received some parts in a few days ago and hadn't made any calls yet. So I have an appointment next Thursday to get the recalls taken care of. So much for a list!

Re: Part Availability for the Brake Booster Recall

Is there a way to check if I need this brake booster done?

Re: Part Availability for the Brake Booster Recall

I posted an issue that I just discovered yesterday that the dealer had messed up when I had the brake booster recall done about 5000 miles ago. Take read and double check that they did not mess up putting yours back together like they did mine.

Re: Part Availability for the Brake Booster Recall

Just took my 2012 WK2 in for the brake booster recall for a second time. Apparently when the recall test procedure was performed the first time, booster was able to hold vacuum pressure and passed, so only the foam shield was installed to prevent "any more" water from entering booster. I say "any more" because recently, I noticed that the booster was unable to hold vacuum pressure (indicated by the hard pedal response and hissing sound present when depressing the brake pedal as well as almost using the car in front of me to stop completely! at a traffic light). Went to a different dealer this morning and indeed a problematic brake booster was confirmed and was replaced under recall P14 (dealer had parts in stock). Just something to look out for if this recall has been performed and only foam shield was installed, booster may still have ingested water pre-recall foam fix and freeze causing booster fail further down the road. Service today took around 2 hours and I was on my way with properly functioning brakes again.

Look at your brake booster (under your brake master cylinder reservoir on the firewall top drivers side). If you see a black foam shield installed, the recall test and service work was performed.

Still, best way would be to call local dealer and give a service advisor the last 8 digits of your VIN. They will be able to confirm if the brake booster recall was tended to on your vehicle and when.
