Part not available??? Seriously???

I have a 2011 JGC with a broken drivers seat adjuster shield, part #1TM29BD3AA, but it's been revised since then. I tried to order it thru 2 different online dealers, and even though it is listed for sale in their parts catalog, they both told me that the part was unavailable with no ETA from the manufacturer, so the orders were cancelled. WTF!!!, a less than 5 year old vehicle that is still under a powertrain warranty and a service contract has a part for it that is unavailable? Has anyone else had this issue come up with this or other parts? I just can't believe that this is even an issue, they are still in the middle of the WK2 model run at the factory. Can anyone help me find this part?

Re: Part not available??? Seriously???

No, I did not, however the two dealers I contacted online both have brick and mortar Chrysler dealerships in another state. As far as I know, they are all connected to the same parts network. This part isn't some obscure bracket or miscellaneous bolt, it is the big, molded plastic piece on the outboard side of the driver's power seat that holds the seat adjustment switches. One of the clips that holds it on was broken when my 120 lb. dog put all his weight on it jumping into the vehicle. It is loose now, and I'd really like to fix it, as the JGC is still in pristine condition, and I'd like to keep it that way. Any help would be very much appreciated.

That is a rough one. How to fix a 120lb dog. My only advice is very carefully.

Sorry I could not help myself.

Re: Part not available??? Seriously???

How about eBay ... the listing (with the revised part) says it is available in gray:

Chrysler OEM Seat Cover Outer Left 1UN79BD3AA | eBay

Amazon also shows it in stock, but not sure if that would be the same as the online dealers you called:

Good find. He can have it painted to match his color interior at a good body shop.

Re: Part not available??? Seriously???

I broke 2 of them on drivers side on my MY11 WK2. It was replaced both times under warranty. I would therefore assume that it is of poor design and there is a great demand for replacement covers. This might be the reason for out of stock situation but would also result in demand to make more. It is a simple injection molded piece.
