Re: Passenger seat rattle

Anybody have this fixed by the dealer yet? Mine does the same.... it's clearly a design/manufacturer defect.

I'm taking my jeep in Thursday to see if they can fix it. Mine too rattles when nobody is in the seat. When the seat is occupied no rattle.
If anyone else has any feedback before I take it in please let me know.

Re: Passenger seat rattle

MY SOLUTION:
My headrest shafts seemed loosely fit in the seat causing an occasional light rattle. I wrapped some high quality clear tape precisely around the chrome headrest shafts that slide into the seat to create a tighter, higher-friction fit. They still adjust up and down nicely but the rattle was eliminated. Sorry, I have no pics because you cannot see/notice what I did. I informed one of my dealer techs so he could create a TSB but he looked at me as if I was describing quantum mechanics or string theory.

Note: some people report this rattle as coming from the panoramic roof and it does sound like that but it is indeed the headrest or headrest shafts (my case). If it is the headrest itself, I would guess applying enough tape to that friction surface to increase friction would yield the same result and also be unnoticeable.

For $47,000 I'm not gonna put plastic tape on a problem they have. Its headed to the dealership tomorrow to get it fixed. This is the second time they have looked at it. Hope they get it fixed tomorrow.

For real son.....I'm going to try this, what the hell right? I figure going to my dealer to fix the problem will just be a long slow painful process. Thanks for the tip!

Can you be specific on what tape you used? And post some pics?

Re: Passenger seat rattle

Hey all - one of you figured out it is the electrical thingies under the passenger seat. They are not fastened to the seat very well and when a bump is hit a certain way, they rattle against the metal bars on the bottom of the seat. Apparently, when someone is in the seat everything gets pushed down - so no rattle. Right now I have a piece of wood jammed in under the cable and am enjoying a rattle free ride. Soon I'll take it to the dealer to get the cables fastened properly. Thanks to all on this forum for helping with that rattle. Oh another rattle in the rear was solved by removing the bins around the spare tire. I'll have to get the dealer to put felt or something in to buffer the noise. I'm still working on the one around the sun roof.

Re: Passenger seat rattle

I have a rattle, but it's coming from the console where the lights/sunroof buttons are. As soon as I apply pressure to that area (push up) it stops completely. Any suggestions?

Re: Passenger seat rattle

I my case rattle is coming from the panoramic roof. The dealership has confirmed this, but they don't know how to fix it. Does anyone else have a similar problem? Any suggestions? Thanks.
