Took into the dealer and they said they couldn't hear it. BS. They didn't fix.
Basically I took the jeep there for 4 problems, it was returned with 4 problems, and now a 5th. While they were working on my headrest they scratched the leather below the headrest which has to be fixed. Ugggghhhh. Taking to another dealer from now on.

Totally understand; I've been through similar feelings with vehicles costing more than twice that so I truly empathize with what you are saying. What it comes down to is this: if a problem is (in the dealer's mind) "minor", they give it a "look see" and then quickly shuffle you off so they can work on something profitable. It's a poor situation, but reality. That has led me to fix the little things like rattles myself rather than waste my time at the dealer.

I tried taking some pics Joe, but you cannot even see what I did. A friend gave me some rolls of wide 3M clear-tape a year ago that we used for holiday church artwork. It is several mils thicker than standard "scotch tape" and would guess that it was 3M wrapping tape; it is very clear/haze-free.

What I did was pulled up the headrest to maximum height, wrap the cut-to-length tape ~1.5x around each headrest shaft and slid the headrest down to normal height. The tight fit of the headrest shafts stopped the very mild rattle coming from the headrest shafts. My rattle sounded like it came from the pano roof, but it was the headrest shafts and this fixed it for me. Other rattles may be the headrest itself or, as mentioned by others, something inside the seat itself.

Aside from that occasional headrest rattle, now fixed, my WK2 has zero rattles after almost 35,000 miles/1yr.

Re: Passenger seat rattle

I have a rattle too! But mine sounds like it's coming from the passenger side vent area on the dashboard. very annoying! I thought maybe it had something to do with the glove box, so i would open and slam it closed, the noise would stop briefly then start again....ughh!!

I just tend to forget about it until I'm driving and the noise starts and then i can't do anything about it while I'm driving. I really have to look into where this noise is coming from.....LOL

Thank you for explanation. I will try this.

Re: Passenger seat rattle

It could be the cables and connections UNDER the seat. They are not connected to the seat bottom very well. Mine are currently held in place with a piece of wood (until I get to the dealer.) See Post #21 for pic.

Re: Passenger seat rattle

Joe, Check my post again (#21) on passenger seat rattle. I added a pic. I have a 2011 Laredo 4x4.

Thanks. It's ridiculous that we have to resort to this.

Re: Passenger seat rattle

I think after seeing this I'll just live with the rattle.

Re: Passenger seat rattle

My headrests rattle as well. When I hold the passenger side down or someone is sitting in the seat it goes away. Haven't taken to the dealer yet, doubt they will be be able to fix it. I also have a rattle coming from the drivers side somewhere. If i lean on the left side of the seat it goes away?
