Re: Passenger seat rattle

Hey, I found the fix. The rattle is actually the headrest base grommets making a sound when moving against the leather of the seat. The part where you push the button to adjust the height of the headrest. Simply place a little lubricant (I used vaseline) underneath the bottom of the grommet and the leather seat and you're all set. Promise.

Seriously? I have this happening as well and it seems to be from the headrest. I've never brought it to the dealer because I figured they'd be worthless as usual. Any other feedback from anybody else that brought theirs in to the dealer?

...I. Can't. Believe. It. It works! I actually did a little hillbilly engineering as a quick test, grabbing a couple receipts from my wallet when I jumped in the car this AM for my commute and placed 2 on each side of the head rest posts that go into the seat and the problem went away completely! I think instead of lubricant that might need to be done now and then I might get some felt.

Thanks JGC-convert!

Re: Passenger seat rattle

I have been experiencing the passenger head rest rattling in my SRT since May of this year. The rattling occurs all of the time (when someone is the in the seat and not in the seat). It's not coming from beneath the seat - the dealer fixed that rattling. Ha!

One dealer replaced the head rest twice. One dealer supposedly replaced the black plastic sleeves that the chrome shafts slide through. No fixy. I have even put some little pieces of foam between the chrome shaft and the black sleeves. It's def coming from the head rest. I will be taking a video this weekend.

I have now called SRT to see if they can help the dealer. I have an appt next Friday.

Passenger seat rattle

My passenger seat has a metal chatter sound under the seat (un-occupied) over subtle bumps, drives me crazy!!

Is your noise a ticking type sound? If so, check the post around the first page or so of this thread regarding the electrical harnesses under the passenger seat. Lightly move the wires around to see if you can duplicate the noise. I ended up securing the harnesses a bit better than they were originally and the noise went away on both my 2011 and 2014.

Re: Passenger seat rattle

My passenger seat would do the same if no one was sitting in it. Especially on the highway it would just rock, shimmy and shake lol.

Re: Passenger seat rattle

For those of you with passenger seat rattle when the seat is empty: try to buckle passenger seatbelt. In my case it stopped the rattle and it turned out to be seatbelt buckle receptacle or whatever it is called, the part with red button. This part was hitting the center console when the lever it is mounted on was tilted up (it stays in this position after someone uses the seatbelt). That part has some felt glued to it but it doesn't help in this lever position. After I tilted that lever down the rattle stopped. It was pretty difficult to locate too. For a while I was sure it was coming from the headrest or somewhere within the seat back.
