Unhappy Passenger side rear view mirror

This afternoon on my way home from work, The inevitable happened. Was minding my own business at a stop light (that always takes forever) all of a sudden I hear a Harley or some piece of $@&* rev their engine and CRACCKKK!!!

That mother F'er hit my passenger side mirror I'm guessing with his handle bar. Soon as that happens the light turns green and the a-hole takes off. By the time I even acknowledged he took off. I tried switching lanes to follow but there was oncoming traffic and it would of been worse.

So the end result my mirror did not break, surprised actually. The outer plastic housing of the actual mirror is cracked from 2 or 3 locations. The power folding option still works, turn signal blinker from mirror also works but seems loose when I barely touch it. The outer Crome cover just has a chip and u can see black.

Any ideas what to do to fix it or leave it alone till it falls off or get new one? My concern is with time it will break and will be non functional.

I'm so pissed but glad it wasn't worse and that it still works.

Also didn't know where else to post this so be gentle...lol.

Re: Passenger side rear view mirror

I'm pretty sure that's what insurance is for. It sucks to have to make a claim, but that's why we all have it.

Well, although you are correct about insurance unfortunately i have a high deductible and i have a feeling the repair cost of the mirror is much cheaper.

I've been trying to find the part # of the passenger side mirror (the one without blindspot) with no luck.

Any help will be appreciated.

Call dealer's parts department. Should take them less than a minute to look it up.
