Passive Entry Key Issue

Hello All,

Here's an annoying one.

Partner keeps key in her handbag/baby bag and i always carry mine in my pocket. Yesterday we get out of the car and she leaves her bag in the car with her key, as usual i lock the car. Normally when i lock the car in this situation it will beep three times to warn me her key is in the car and we get it out. Yesterday it didn't warn me and we were looking for her'lost' key for hours, only to find it was locked in the car, i could easily unlock it with my key but didn't understand why i didn't hear the three beep warning.

Thinking it may have been a one off i have tried it again, and i cannot get the car to beep again when a key is left in the car, it is happy to lock the car and doesn't appear to even know there is a key in there.

Any idea what to do? any way to fix this?

Re: Passive Entry Key Issue

Are you sure the one left in the car doesn't have a dead battery? Try leaving your key in the car and locking it with hers and see what happens.

Yep try this first. First step to troubleshooting, ensure the battery isn't dead on the other key.

I don't think it will beep if you are using the button on your key fob to lock the door. I usually lock mine with the inside lock button and I don't think even then that mine will unlock and beep every time my wife leaves her key in the car.

When I use the button on the door, it often beeps three times even though I'm out of the car and there is no key fob inside it. I think that I don't move far enough out of the car before shutting the door.
