Passive entry not working again this afternoon. Must have a loose wire, bad sensor, or gremlins

Re: passive entry problems

My not-quite-a-week-old Overland was at the service dept to get its inspection sticker and get the intermittent passive entry checked out.

There was a stored fault code that pointed to some specific module ("right rear door" he said), but the specific test called out in the diagnostic procedure doesn't actually exist in the diagnostic system. Service manager opened a Starcase on it.

My service dept ordered a new sensor for me and it goes in on Wednesday. Hopefully that will fix it

Re: passive entry problems

I have a '14 Overland and had the same experience as you. I am still trying to see if it will be fixed by itself. The dealer checked and didn't see any faulty code.

Did the dealer fixed the issue for you?

It was a pinched wire which they fixed, but have had other electrical issues and now I'm actually waiting for Chrysler roadside assistance to tie it since in just clicks when I try to start it

Re: passive entry problems

Thanks. I went to the cargo area and started pushing and securing all plastic covers and spare tire cover which I had moved not too long ago; it fixed the problem. The pinched-wire issue seems to be the culprit the problem. Inwill be more cautious when lifting the spare tire cover.

I'd say 75% of the time I have to press the open liftgate button 4 times to get mine to open too.

There was supposedly a fix coming out for this but I haven't received an update in a long while so Chrysler probably gave up since they couldn't figure out how to fix it. Or they just haven't received enough complaints about it.

I figure by the time they possibly come out with a fix, I'll may well be driving some other manufacturers vehicle by then. Time will tell.
