I'm enjoying reading the posts. No attitude was used. I was respectful. Even know I didn't want to be. I do stand behind my opinion of being owed atleast something. There wasnt even an apology.

He's not the Sultan of Brunei because he bought a $40k car. They didn't murder his wife, they screwed up his car. It can be fixed, and it will be fixed...get a grip. They don't owe him "damages" or "reparations"...and they don't deserve his disrespect.

He came here with an attitude of entitlement and we shared with him why that attitude was going to get him nowhere. And as you saw from the result...it got him nowhere.

$640M now! Maybe chrome fog light bezels too?

lol no chip here... if anyone came in here with a chip on their shoulder, it was you acting like you are the defense attorney for the dealership. and plenty of ^^^ that was said. you are entitled to your own opinion as well as everyone else is so have fun with it. I just disagree and feel for the guy.

And dealers wonder why consumers hate us. That sucks they should have apologized immediately.

I'm glad you were respectful and if it isn't fixed right PM me so I can give you some names and numbers to call.

If you walk into a car dealership and you're nasty and aggressive with the salespeople, they're going to be nasty and aggressive towards you. Its a two way street.

Now, obviously the dealer F@cked up his car, and they were obviously less than apologetic about it when he brought it back (yet we don't know how he addressed it with them), and thats a shame. But...life is too short to get aggravated...let your money do the talking and patronize a dealership that treats you how you want to be treated...and how you treat them. Expecting the dealer to give you $500 worth of free shit and calling the manager an "idiot" is classless and juvenile, bottom line. Get the Jeep fixed, and move on.

When you make a statement like "I don't care about the car dealer's POV", you're someone who can never be satisfied because you expect to be unsatisfied. They're just people trying to earn a living like you and me, and they deserve respect at the very least on a basic level. If you don't care about them or respect them...you can't expect them to do the same for you. If they're terrible people and terrible at their jobs, don't do business with them. Pretty simple, why waste your time yelling and screaming and making demands? Just leave.

When you approach a business transaction from this mindset, you will be a LOT more satisfied and a lot more successful...trust me.
I see it as a "business transaction". POV's play no role. POV is an emotional response. As the customer, the dealer should be concerned with me being happy. Why should I give a damn about the dealer's POV. Most dealers would rob people blind if they had the chance and most say it's just business.

I am all for do onto others as you would want done to you but the dealer passing off a damaged vehicle is a common practice. They would cover it up and hope you never notice until it's too late. Maybe that is what I have seen and experienced but it is what it is.

For the record: $40 grand in this economy is a prettt decent chunk of change. I stand by my comment. I don't go to the dealer for anything other than buying a new car or warranty work, so the last of my concern's is their POV. I am upfront, honest and polite. I still get screwed on BS every now and then. I voice my concerns on a polite and firm manner. Going off will get you nothing. In the end, the guy is out gas and time to deal with this. The dealer should kick in the mats to make him whole. I am sure there was more than $50 on the jeep between hold back and everything else.

What you were absolutely owed was an apology.

LOL, both parties point of view absolutely has a role in any business transaction. Nothing emotional about it. You can't negotiate with someone effectively without knowing their point of view. "Why should I give a damn about the dealer's POV"? Because you're a human being.

And yes, the dealer should be concerned with you being happy. However, some consumers cannot be pleased.

Thats just absolutely not true. I have done a lot of business with car dealerships in my life, both as a consumer and as a consultant. There are far more honest dealerships out there than dishonest ones.

I'm talking about what the salesman earned from the sale. The salesman does not make all of the profit to the dealership, and he will not be in a position where he can make decisions about what the dealership will or will not come out of pocket to do.

What he should have done was apologized up and down and taken the OP's situation to his superiors and tried to make sure they did something to help him out. But...like I said...not everybody's good.

Re: Picked up my wk2. Not a happy camper

Isn't happy an emotion?

My new Wrangler has a paint issue with both front fender flares. The paint is cracking along the seam because the flare was not sanded after being molded. both are going to be repainted, I'm not happy that it had to be done, but I am satisfied.

The amount of money spent doesn't matter. As a consumer we all want to be satisfied and we all want to leave the transaction with a good feeling. when someone tells me X amount of money isn't alot, I always think to myself if it was laying on your table in 20 dollar bills would you feel the same way.

Update: salesman is throwing in slush mats. It pays to be respectful. Just so it's perfect when they fix it.
