Re: Picked up my wk2. Not a happy camper

I wouldn't accept it and make them fix it. I'd have taken one look at it, and told them "call me when its fixed" and left.

And yes, post some pictures of it now and we may be able to help give you guidance. Being able to see the wetsanding is no big deal, that will polish right out...

The pics are on the first post of this thread..thats the best i can do of knicks in clearcoat on white paint..its tough to see unless under my floresent garage lights..there they stick out like a sore thumb..but getting clear pics is tough to do..

I had to pick up after hrs of course so no one was there..so i get to make another trip there with 3 kids and 2 vehicles..getting real sick of it..

Re: Picked up my wk2. Not a happy camper

See..this is your problem. DON'T PICK IT UP AFTER HOURS! You need to take the time to inspect your vehicle before accepting it and the condition its in...

Sheesh...

You've learned a lesson here. NEVER accept a vehicle in any condition other than the condition you think is correct. Would you have someone put a deck on your house and pay them before you look at it? If you have issues with the work they did would you pay them and have them come back and fix it later? No.

Refusing delivery is your leverage. You don't have any money to withhold, but once you get in it and drive off its going to be a lot harder to get it fixed.

If it were me I would take it to another body shop, get an estimate, and require the dealer to pay the other shop so you know its done right.

What are the chances the dealer pays for that?? I would love to take it to a real shop but just figured that was out of the question.

Re: Picked up my wk2. Not a happy camper

They'll pay. You do have leverage, you can complain to Chrysler, and you still have to fill out the dealer survey which matters to them because it can effect the rates they pay for their inventory and the allocation of their inventory.

When I was a detailer back in another other life we would get cars routinely that were DESTROYED by the dealer's prep department. If you look on the detailing forums like Autopia where people who still detail professionally hang out you'll see posts upon posts on the subject. Dealers routinely would pay for us to repair the paint on the cars.

I'd give them one more shot, and if its not perfect I'd demand that they send it out to be properly repaired.

Re: Picked up my wk2. Not a happy camper

My WK2 had a minor blemish on the paint prior to delivery that looked like etching perhaps due to bird droppings. I wasn't going to take that vehicle, but the sales guy had one of their service people take a look. In less than 15 minutes he had restored the paint to the point where I couldn't tell where the original spot was. You might be pleasantly surprised what can be done easily to the paint. (crome strip would definitely need to be replaced)

Re: Picked up my wk2. Not a happy camper

i guess i forgot to post the outcome...

chrome trim and window replaced perfectly

after another trip while i watched they wetsanded and buffed the paint to 85% perfect.. it was either that or paint to get it 100%.. some scratches were too deep and body guy was afraid to go too far with the wetsanding.. i opted to not repaint as it wasn't bad enough to break the factory paint over..

Chrysler is cutting me a check for $404 dollars(one jeep payment) for the troubles

dealer threw in slush mats and no apologies ahhaha...way to go dealer way to go...

anyway..im as happy as i can be for situation...but it is just a car, and i will have plenty of stone chips on the front end after the first winter of driving... so the perfectness will be gone in a couple of months anyway hahah...

Sorry the dealer couldn't do more for the paint but I am glad to hear Chrysler made a payment for you. I imagine Lee had something to do with that?
