After purchasing my 2012 GC, I noticed that the front bumper was sticking out a bit underneath the passenger side headlight. I pushed on it and it SEEMED to *click* back into place. but seconds later it popped right back out again. Took it into the dealer to see if they could attach the bumper correctly, left it overnight, and when i came back to pick it up the bumper was still popped out!
I decided to do a little investigating...I walked around the sales lot and looked at every 2011 and 2012 GC, every trim level, and both V6 and V8....even the new altitudes....
I was shocked to find that every single one of them had the same problem.. some of them the bumper was popped out on both sides...
Can anyone who sees this thread please check your bumpers and post if you have this same issue?
.....the front bumper being popped out like this really does accent the mis-aligned doors and trim nicely tho!
I have a 2013 GC and I have the same problem on the passenger side. I push it in and it pops back out a short time later. LOL. Should I expect the rest of the car to come apart one day? American quality...... I really like my GC.
I never noticed the problem until I read this thread. But, my 2012 JGC also has the bumper lip popout along the inside bottom edge of the passenger side headlight where it meets the grill. I snap it into place only to have it come loose after driving the vehicle. Clearly, there is one clip that doesn't hold under the stress of normal street driving. Leaving it parked in the garage overnight, the clilp holds the bumer edge in place. All the other fastners are doing their job. Therefore, it's not immediately noticeable until one's attention is drawn to it. Darn, now that I see it, I can't help but focus on it!
I have the same problem on my 2012 GC Limited! Popped it in and hasn't come out yet! (hopefully it wont come out with the first pothole, lots here in Central America)
I would notice because I wash and/or quick detail spray my 2012 WK2 almost every day. I just went and checked and no issues. Very snug fit. Mine was built mid-August 2011.
Yesterday I checked and I see the same thing on the front bumper (drivers side) I popped it back in and it seemed to stay that way, but I'll check again in a few days to tell for sure.
Just looked today. Passanger side pop out by the corner of the grill. Very subtle. 2012 Altitude Gues Ill let the dealer know.when I go for my first oil change.
Just checked mine, and the passenger side was popped out slightly; pushed it back and heard the click, but then it came out again. I'll be showing this to the dealer; hopefully they don't try to blame it on me hitting something. I will always have this threat to show them...
Same issue on my Laredo X. I had it "fixed" the second week I after I got my WK2 and within a day, it had popped back out again. Finally got a chance to go back today to take care of it. They sent it over to the body shop. I get a call in the afternoon that it was ready and all was well. Stop by to pick it up after work, the porter pulls it out, and sure enough, its already popped out again. GRRR! My service advisor had already gone home for the day, so I'm talking to only other advisor there, and he says he hadn't seen it yet, but he had another customer with the same problem, coming in tomorrow.. an SRT8. Seems to be an issue among any of the models. Guess I'll be seeing them a 3rd time.
took it into the dealer to have the doors aligned and the front bumper fixed.
1 week later- doors are sitting nice and straight, no more gap!!
they "fixed" the front bumper....but it must have broken its self again before i came to pick it up, because it no sticks out worse than before!! going back in to see about getting the whole front fascia replaced. fingers crossed!!
Had the chrome grill fitted today finally after 3 months on back order, at the same time they fixed the clip that holds the bumper in place under the right hand side head light. And the leaking windscreen washer bottle.
Jan 2012 built vehicle here has the same issue on the drivers side r(right hand drive vehicle). Push it in, hear it click but shortly after it has popped out again.
Mine is also popped out a little on the passenger side. Pushed it in before I left work. Drove 20 miles and checked it again and yep, its popped back out. Will notify dealer at my next oil change.
I went to the dealer on Thursday for an oil change and I told the service attendant that mine pops out every few days. He told me this is the first he's heard of it and he suspected me of hitting something that popped it out. I then told him that that wasn't the case. I then walked out to the lot while I was waiting and saw that 4 out of the 7 new Jeeps on the lot had the same issue. I took a picture of two of them and went and showed the same service rep and he said "oh well must be a characteristic of the Jeep". I'll scan the paperwork and post it later. I'm going to notify Jeep Customer Service if nobody else has.

I spoke to Jeff the customer service rep assigned to my case yesterday. I brought him up to date with my experience at the dealer and how that I found other vehicles on the late displaying the same issue. I also told him that I am a member of an online community and that there are a number of other owners that have the same issue. Jeff told me that he is going to contact my dealer and speak to the service manager to find out if they have had any other reports of this issue. He also said that he would be calling other dealers as well. I'm hoping that Jeep will see how common this issue is and will provide a fix for it soon. I will update this thread again after I speak to Jeep customer service again.
Just got mine a few days ago and it has the issue. Mine simply will not stay in. I don't know if I should thank you for this thread or not ... I'd never have noticed it myself, but now that I know it bugs me!
Newest Update: Jeep customer service followed up with my dealer. My dealer told them that this is a common issue but the bumper is within specifications of the jeep and that no repairs are necessary! So I either have to find another dealer that says this is not acceptable or enough of us have to call and complain.
What a joke. I had JGC 2012 it had this problem on one side. I now have a 2013 and it has the problem on one side. Yesterday I was at the dealers and they had approx 8 JGC on show and 5 had the problem on one side and one had the problem on both sides.
I question whether ignoring this loose vibrating section of the bumper will lead to other issues in the long term!
Mine has it on the passenger side as well. I had read this thread prior to purchase but I forgot to check it before I made the purchase. What is the solution? Is there a simple method to remove the headlight and snap the bumper back into place the way it should be?
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
