Try that, but try waiting in your vehicle after driving and power down; that will be more telling.

It pops under any conditions. Doesn't matter how long. As long as the dash unit powers down

ok now to isolate your problem. F71 is the fuse for the Audio Amplifier. The fuse block cover in the engine bay has a legend that tell one where the fuse is located in the fuse block. There should be a yellow fuse puller in there too. If not, then used a pair of needle nose pliers. Pull it, then start the vehicle and do whatever you do to get the speakers to pop. If the speakers don't pop with this fuse pulled, then it is something with the amplifier.

If amp is the culprit, get yourself the JGC electrical manual and find where the gnd circuit(s) are leading away from the amplifier and check to ensure they are making good connections to ground.

Thank you very much for this information. The popping stops when I pulled the F7 1 fuse. It's something with the amp now. I have the HK unit so I believe the amp is in the middle somewhere. I'll need to research how to get at it.

Re: Pop threw speakers when open door

paradiso, 14summithemi posted in another thread if you signup with autozone it will allow you to view shop manual drawings, so try that and find the harness drawings for the radio & amp. You'll also wanna get the circuit diagram or at least the block diagram for the connectors that list the terminal numbers and most important, wire colors. If you don't have one, pick up a voltage meter that reads OHMS and has leads (big box hardware stores have wide assortment). Not the one that looks like a pencil and no leads. Get a few alligator clip jumpers too so you can check the ohms (continuity) for the ground circuit before jacking with it and afterwards. The reading should be <= 0.1-5 ohms if you have good continuity but the "open" circuit in the ground will be in the 1000's. Good luck guy and let us know what you find.

I know its been a couple months since a last post in this thread, but any update on this? My newly purchased '15 High Altitude with HK audio started doing this pop today when opening a door.

Mine still makes the pop sound. I've had no luck solving it. Would pay to find a solution. ....

I wanted to see the amp in back and look at the wiring and connectors. All the wires and connectors looked fine nothing stood out. I pulled the amp fuse under the hood and reinstalled and did the same with the three amp connectors. I couldn't see where the amp ground connections are as they just went into a larger wire bundle and went out of site. Since doing those things I have not been able to replicate the pop. It did it twice earlier today both times were shortly after opening a door and getting into the Jeep.

Maybe one or more of the connectors were not seated right? so no more pop?
Is that the left rear inside quarter panel? Never did know where the HK amp was located exactly.

Re: Pop threw speakers when open door

Yes that's the left quarter area. To access the amp you have to remove the spare tire and the plastic surround. You don't have to remove any of the interior plastic panels. It's easy actually. I'm not convinced I fixed the problem, but time will tell.
I will say this though, the new Jeeps have to go through some growing pains after they are new. For example my 2014 Summit. It was flawless, but very early on after buying it new it did do a couple weird electrical things that never did happen again. My HA has 400 some miles on it and is only two weeks old. I'll give t time and see what happens. Jut for grins you should get back to the amp and pull the three connectors, take a look at them, jiggle the wires, and put them back and see if it still pops. Also, you don't have to completely remove the spare tire surround, just lift the rear most section and you should be able to access the amp connectors.
See what happens.

Thank you, I'll be trying this tomorrow. My 2014 was the Overland. I can agree it does settle down over time. My 2015 summitt only has 1500 miles so we shall see

Re: Pop threw speakers when open door

One more question, so does your Jeep literally do this every single time you open a door or is it a once in a while thing? So in other words, if you mess with the amp and wiring and you don't get a pop right away afterwards then we know it may have just been a simple connection issue at the amp. Keep us posted.
