I wish I had waited for awhile so these certified mechanics could of had some on hands experience. My other half said she was going to wait awhile before she gets an appointment for hers to be done. From what I gather the braking problem happens when moisture gets drawn in around the rusted area into the braking system and then freezes is when you have a big problem. So I take it as get it done before it gets down around freezing. I just wanted to hurry up and get it done and this is what happened to me. I wish better luck to the rest of you.

It is a new master cylinder that is hard for my dealer to get.
I contacted Chrysler/Jeep customer services and they are
Tracking my order of the master cylinder and they called me
Today and advised me my dealer will have the part next week
Sometime.

Re: Post brake booster recall issue

Add me to the list of "my dealer broke my master cylinder". Mine was in for service and they did the update and broke it. They said there are 750 master cylinders on back order as of last Monday.

Re: Post brake booster recall issue

They must be ripping your MC out before pumping the brakes down till vacumm is lost with engine off. The service bulletin specifically says to in order to avoid damage to the master cylinder. On another note when I was diagnosing my booster/vac lines/check valves/MC it was over holiday weekend I wanted to fix it so I could just go out. I priced out a MC/brake booster from auto zone I happened to google their PN for master cylinder for their brand have to double check before I post but when I googled the MC on if I recall I read the Cadillac uses same MC. I'll look into it see if it matches...would be funny if GM has a whole cache of them

Well I guess it paid off contacting Chrysler/Jeep Customer Service. I got a call from my dealer and my Jeep was done and I could come and get it so I went straight there and picked it up. While I was there I was shown a document that said from this point forward that parts are going to be top level priority and get them out to the dealers and get these vehicles back to there customers and back on the road. You know when I called Customer Service the lady was so very nice and concerned about my problem that even I had to act like a gentleman and it obviously paid off. So if you have to call in just be nice and they will do the best they can for you. So Good Luck to all !!

Re: Post brake booster recall issue

On Friday, I had mine back to the dealer, walked in and said I have an appt. I believe it has something to do with the brake booster recall work you did last week. The service manager overheard me, took my keys and walked out with me to my car. He sat in it until he heard my concern, took like 10 seconds. He dropped me off, and he took my car away. 1/2 hour later he was back and the car was fixed. It appears that when they put everything back together, a mounting bracket for the master cylinder or braked booster was not mounted properly and was rubbing against something every time I hit the brakes. It even did it when the body would sway. He took care of me right away, but I also think he saved himself some hassle, because I don't think this service visit was documented, it would have gone down as rework. He just handed me the keys back apologized for having to come back, said he talked to the service technician so this would not happen again. Hopefully my master cylinder will not fail in another week, sorry for everybody having that issue.

I think, when you bring it in, and they see you have a recall, they have the parts, they are gonna do it. I did not ask for mine to be done, I actually did not want the work done, because they were replacing the ORC module. That was enough work for me at one time. Unfortunately they did it and caused a problem. I would ask, but they maybe required to do it.

Because it is a recall, if the DON'T do it, they could be negligent. Thank the lawyers for that!

From the press release. Can't wait to see what a mess they will make doing this

In the interest of protecting our customers, this spacer will be installed in all vehicles within the range, regardless of whether or not the vanity mirror and/or headliner have been serviced.

Waiting for parts. First week of June dealer told me. "2 to 3 weeks."
