Re: Post your experiences with the TSB 18-012-11

I'm going in Thursday for something else, I'll have them apply this one as well. I don't notice any shudder or harsh shifts, but I have noted that it's not too hard to catch the thing flat-footed from overeager upshifts at the wrong moment.

Was your Jeep built before 12/20/2010?

Yes, on 12/10/11 They hooked it up to the computer and said I had the latest and greatest updates already loaded....

Re: Post your experiences with the TSB 18-012-11

Just had this TSB applied to my Jeep. Wow, noticeable difference! There is no more "dead" or "neutral" zone. It's more "peppy" and throttle response has greatly improved. Thanks Jeep/Chrysler!!!

Re: Post your experiences with the TSB 18-012-11

I agree, just drove home from the dealer and the change is definitely noticeable.

The main things I noticed in my short 20 min drive:

- The more I drove once leaving the dealer the more noticeable the changes became. Perhaps it needs to re-learn your driving style after the flash?

- Corners at low speeds are vastly improved. It now feels just like it should, not like you are caught in a higher gear and struggling for power.

- When applying throttle the engine responds more naturally than it did before. It's not perfect but there is noticeably less drive by wire feel IMO.

- Shifts do seem ever so slightly quicker than before. This was never a concern for me in the first place but is nice nonetheless.

Overall the refinement to the driving experience is well worth the update.

Yup you nailed down the details right there. I experienced the same changes you did. This update is a MUST HAVE!

Re: Post your experiences with the TSB 18-012-11

Huge difference (build date 9/15/10). Throttle response is much better, it's harder to catch it flat footed. Shifts are quicker, but they do feel a touch harsher (I wasn't disappointed with shifting before).

IMO, it's easily worth doing. I was satisfied with the V-6 before, now I'm quite pleased.

Re: Post your experiences with the TSB 18-012-11

Looks like we have parallel threads that cover the V6 throttle and transmission issues.

I have posted about the very positive improvements to my V6 performance under the other thread, at Post #27:
http://jeepgarage.org/showthread.php?t=16680&page=2

I also had trouble convincing the dealer to apply this TSB even though I had the symptoms and build date of Nov. 19. But I kept pressing and the dealer eventually called Chrysler Engineering to get approval. I don't know why the reluctance.

Anyway, I had both ESC and Transmission flashes done today, so I can only tell you that the total effect was Wow! This is how the throttle should always have been like my older Jeep's cable throttles, without excessive drive by wire delays. One happy camper this evening.

Re: Post your experiences with the TSB 18-012-11

After having some more time in the seat I have a few more observations about the update:

- Both the shift points and kickdown seem to have changed quite a bit. Before it seemed it would almost downshift 2 gears and surge forward when trying to get out of the "dead zone" - now it's much more predictable and the dead zone is gone.

- Less throttle input is required to get up to speed. Driving around town requires less effort as the engine seems more dialed into the sweet spot in the rpm range. I believe this is the main reason there is considerably less DBW feel. It's essentially like a free "sprintbooster" direct from Chrysler.

- Without a doubt the engine seems to run a few hundred rpm higher at low speed like the TSB notes.

I cannot wait to see what aftermarket tuners can do with the Pentastar engine if this kind of gain was to be had at conservative factory specs. I have a feeling there are substantial gains to be had simply by further tweaking the tuning and shift points.

Me = Very Happy Camper

Re: Post your experiences with the TSB 18-012-11

Has anyone been able to confirm that this update has more performance improvements over and above the esc update that came out just before this one. I just ask because It seemed like I got some of this with the esc tsb.
