Re: Post your experiences with the TSB 18-012-11

I had both updates performed at different times and the second update was much more noticeable than the first.

I had the first update done two weeks ago and it made a huge improvement, I will be getting the second one done tomorrow and will post the results.

Re: Post your experiences with the TSB 18-012-11

Had an appointment yesterday at 8:00 AM, drove 1.5 hrs to get to the dealer, and was told Dealer NET or whatever it's called was down. No reprogramming, TSBs, etc. available until it came back up (which was AFTER I got home).

I guess we'll try again NEXT weekend. >

Re: Post your experiences with the TSB 18-012-11

I went ahead and had this done this morning. It made a world of difference. The transmission now allows the engine to rev and keep it in the power band, another thing is that dragging when coasting at low speed is gone, and the overall feel of the throttle is better. I will have to watch the fuel milege my guess is the city driving will be a little less due to the engine revving higher, but it is well worth it for the better performance.

Re: Post your experiences with the TSB 18-012-11

You are absolutely right about both the coasting and fuel mileage. I'm thinking the coasting must have something to do with the slightly higher rpm at idle.

Based on my travels in the past few days MPG is down slightly but this may also be due to the fact I was "testing" the new software and got into the throttle more often than usual. Like you said, well woth the slight tradeoff for the performance gain.

Re: Post your experiences with the TSB 18-012-11

I just had the second update done today. In my opion, I did not feel any major change from the first update to this one.Seems to running just about the same. The first update of the ESC is what made the biggest improvment to me.

I noticed the difference as soon as I pulled out of the dealership the shift schedule is totally different. Are you sure they completed flashes of both modules? It made a ton of difference on mine far more than the first one.

Re: Post your experiences with the TSB 18-012-11

Yea something doesnt seem right if the first update was more noticeable than the second. There is a note in bold on the TSB that says

"A TCM module initialization must be performed after the reprograming of the
PCM and TCM to take full advantage of the new software features."

just a thought.

Ok I don't know if it's just in my head but I notice after the 2 tsb's done that the jeep does not handle and grip as well in the snow . Has anybody noticed this ? It just seems that the 4x4 dosent kick in when going slow and making a quick turn. (Front wheels just won't grab when sterring wheel is turned
)

I've found that it kicks a$$ in the snow. Incredible traction. Both before and after both updates were performed. So maybe it is just you?

Re: Post your experiences with the TSB 18-012-11

THe exact snow conditions and your tire setup can have a huge effect on handling in snow, particularly the grip for front steering. On slushy snow such as produced when highway salt starts to melt the snow, almost any setup can have a tough time getting grip. You have to be careful to compare the same conditions.

After the TSBs, mine seems to have equal grip as before the TSBs when in Snow or Auto modes on snowy surfaces.
