Power in center console

I have a usb charger plugged into the power thing in the center console (sorry I am really tired today and can't for the life of me remember what that type of plug is called).

It seems like after the car sits overnight I have to unplug and replug the charger for it to work again. Is that normal? I have an ipod hooked up to the front usb port and that doesn't happen.

This is on a 2014 summit.

Re: Power in center console

The front USB port is keyed to the ignition switch, therefore it switches power off 30sec after the ignition cycle. The center console 12V power plug is live all the time.

Re: Power in center console

however if you flick the fuse holder around under the bonnet it may turn to constant 12supply like the other outlets.

See the fuse at the end of the pen? Flip it over to the other contact this makes all power outlets fulltime 12v not sure on the usb though but give it a shot.uploadfromtaptalk1412292125290.jpg

Only works for the one in the rear cargo area.

Since the one in the center console is always live and drawing power it may not be good to leave it plugged in all the time. Maybe there is a safeguard built in that cuts the power after a certain time period.
