Problem Fixes

Looking at getting out of my Pathfinder and into a 2014 Overland. Been reading on this and other forums about the GC. There seems to be two prevailing issues. One is the transmission shifting and the second is the electronics staying working. I also saw there was an ABS issues as well. These seemed to have been addressed by recalls or updates. Is this correct? What build date should I look for to be assured that the fixes were completed?

Thanks.

Re: Problem Fixes

Build dates of late august or later - anything after that is just a flash...
They seem to have been fixed as I don't see or hear the volume of whining that we did before - most of which was flashing the TCM on the 8 speed IIRC

The transmission issue only applied to the V6 model.
I have a May 2013 build, and have hit the Xmas tree/no speedo about 3 times, none of which happened after the first K miles. One of these days I'll get the recall installed, but it really isn't bothering me all that much. Same for the flash for the eternally "raising" air suspension when coming out of park by using vehicle speed--easily dealt with by dropping into sport mode and out.

What is almost bothering me is seeing reports of hemi oil consumption, as I haven't used enough to move it the width of the dimple on the dipstick since around 4-5K miles. Hopefully it isn't like the old Jaguar six where not burning oil was bad news.

Re: Problem Fixes

Get the latest build date you can find. I unfortunately have one of the earliest builds and still have some issues that need to be addressed with the tranny, ac and the Uconnect. I honestly I am at the point that the dealer(S) are just stumped at this point. I have a 14 Loaded V6 Limited with 19K and one year on the clock and will say the 14 is the most solid JGC I have ever owned. The 14 is the third. No rattles or creeks, good gas mileage and just plain and simple comfortable on the job site or on the road. Just got back from a trip to southern Florida and can't say enough about the Jeep. Even with the issues it is still one of the most enjoyable vehicles I've owned. The late builds did not have the issues I had. Just as soon as the order banks open up I'm trading it for a 15.

Re: Problem Fixes

Thanks for the info. The dealer gave me a Overland to take home for a while to see if I like it. How do I know if all the trans and uconnect software is totally up to date. It has a 8-13 build date.

I do notice the 1-3 gear shifting is not as smooth and the clunk when downshifting. Could this be it just getting use to my driving?

There is a subsequent transmission flash that was released in December. That will smooth it out some more, it's been a well received update. It is an adaptive transmission so there is some time to learn your driving style but in this instance it likely doesn't have the latest transmission flash (assuming its a v6) .
