Question Problem w Air Suspension - Has anyone heard this CLUNK noise?

Does anyone know what this noise could be???

The air suspension on my 2011 Overland WK2 works correctly but it is making this awful CLUNKING sound when the jeep is being lifted up (but not lowered down). In the video the air suspension begins lifting the jeep at 19 seconds. You will hear the normal sound of the compressor at that time. But then you will hear the CLUNKING sound that is not normal around 30 seconds and again several times after. It sounds like it may be coming from the front of the jeep and not really one of the struts or shocks but I could be wrong. I also occasionally get the "Service Air Suspension" message as well as the "Please wait for air suspension to cool" message when raising and lowering the suspension.

I have also heard a similar noise when hitting a steep driveway (only occasionally). I think the sounds are the same.

If anyone has ever had this problem PLEASE, PLEASE let me know! I am out of factory warranty so I haven't paid for a diagnosis or repair yet. I am considering purchasing an extended warranty from Chrysler so I don't want them to diagnose it yet (then it will be a pre-existing condition). On that note do you think an extended warranty is necessary with a 2011 Overland WK2? Mine is right at 40k miles so they are still offering it to me...

OK. I have a better video.

This is the quadra-lift compressor lifting the Jeep. Has it gone bad? Listen to the knocking at 0:20

Please chime in. I'm trying to decide if I should buy an extended warranty while I can! Should I???

My air suspension does not make any noise while in operation and I use it every day.

With all of the various electronic circuits and Chinese parts on cars now you can bet I have the extended maintenance policy from Mopar.

Discount price of the compressor looks to be $1,105 from one of the online mopar parts places. More expensive than I thought for that little thing lol. Based on that video it looks like it's on it's way out.

Either the compressor is about to eat itself, or it has somehow become loose in its mounting. I'd check the latter first.

I don't know for sure, but when I had my bumper off on my '14 Summit i'm pretty sure the compressor is mounted on rubber isolators. So I don't know if that much movement is normal or not as I have never watched mine while functioning, but since its mounted on rubber mounts I would imagine movement like that is normal. Probably do this to isolate the noise and vibrations from the frame of the vehicle.

It's mounted on isolators. However...that seems like really excessive movement. It might be loose or the isolators have deteriorated. Worth checking because the alternative is the compressor is dying.

Thumbs up Re: Problem w Air Suspension - Has anyone heard this CLUNK noise?

FYI guys today I purchased the Mopar Maximum Care extended warranty from a local dealer (not my original dealer). I got the 4 year/60,000 mile, $100 deductible for $2,554.

My Jeep has 40,100 miles on it so it is out of the Bumper to Bumper factory warranty. But it is 3 months shy of the 5 year in-service date so it is barely still within the factory powertrain warranty. They first offered me the extended warranty for $2,754 but I mentioned that "dealers" on the internet were selling it for less (Zeigler was showing $2,605). Then they came back and offered a $200 coupon which beat the Ziegler price so I took it

good idea on getting the extended. something is not right there with those noises. on my i occasionally hear almost like a blow-off noise coming from the right rear but other than that its working fine.
