Not good for jeep in my eyes. Feel like I am getting the run around now. Jeep tech says they have things to try and now jeep dealer says we are not wasting your time coming in because it won't help wtf!

So called case manager back and expressed frustration again and he said he would get back to me by Friday with an update. If they don't have an appt made by then I am going to another dealer to get my third non fix repair bill. I will then have all the documentation I need for making a case if I go that route. Really getting tired of this, seems like alot of folks are having this issue and they need to fix it.

So far I have gotten nothing from them as an apology, so very disappointed in jeep.

Since I had this done, this issue has been much less of a problem. it would start to get hot in the cabin and then stop and cool off. It SEEMS better (still not perfect like my 2011)
will keep an eye on it.
They did all updates that were applicable. No difference. Still have my jeep sauna.

Re: Problem With 2014 Grand Cherokee Heater

when my hvac blows incorrect temps in my WK, I have to turn the temp to max for a few seconds and then to turn the temp to min for a few seconds and then turn the temp to desired temp. that seems to reset the temp back to normal. the wk2 system looks more advanced, so that may not work for you guys.

I said this at the very beginning. Mine is fixed just by turning it to low and then back up though.

Re: Problem With 2014 Grand Cherokee Heater

I will have to try moving it to high as suggested to see if that does anything. Maybe it will burst into flames if 60 blows 120 lol.

Turning mine to low does nothing. It makes it cold and once you go back to 60 it's really hot again.

Re: Problem With 2014 Grand Cherokee Heater

Well, now I somewhat understand the replies from those who have normally operating vehicles. For some random reason today my vehicle HVAC system operated "normally" for the first time ever. It was sunny and 8 F outside.

Yes, the semi-automatic "manual" mode is a stupid idea, but I wasn't getting alternately burned/frozen. When the cabin temperature reached the set point the temperature of the air from the vent matched the setting. When I increased the thermostat, the air from the vent never went above 105 F (acceptable, like air out of the register from home gas furnace). When I decreased the thermostat, the temperature of the air coming from the vent decreased to match the setting. And then it stayed there. It didn't jump back up to blowing hot air, then immediately blowing cold, then back to hot... so strange to see this first hand. It is still annoying that they don't allow you to directly control the actual output temp, but it wasn't jumping between 65 F and 140 F vent temperature swings, either.

I could live with this if it worked this way all the time. It has never done this before... it's always been the 130+ F burning/freezing schizophrenia prior to today. It will be depressing when the HVAC system goes back to its regularly scheduled programming.

PS. I have never seen any defroster activate with my remote start. They changed the auto-on comfort modes in the latest uConnect release (Dec 2013), and that took away some auto-on comfort options. Perhaps they changed how the defroster worked via remote start as well?

All I get is auto on seats/steering wheel, never saw front/rear defrost. I can't find any official mention of what should or should not happen with this mode other than seats/steering wheel so who knows but I am going to ask my dealer next service trip.

Re: Problem With 2014 Grand Cherokee Heater

I am the originator of this thread, and am astonished at how many people are having the same problem that I am having. Jeep must be inundated with complaints, but are not doing anything about it. I wonder how my HVAC is going to act this coming summer. I have thought of going the Lemon Law route, but then what would I buy? Except for this heater problem, I think the current Jeep GC is perfect (in my eyes, at least). I really can't think of another vehicle that I would be satisfied with. This is all very frustrating.

Re: Problem With 2014 Grand Cherokee Heater

I agree with you. I like the jeep just wish this would work!

I am going to push them harder this week, tired of all of us not having this fixed. I was advised lemon law can not only be a returned car but often times you get comp'd from the manufacturer and they advised its typically substantial.

I know things take time to fix but I am not going to keep this car if the heater will not work right. I too am also concerned about summer. I took a two hour road trip yesterday and its a pia to deal with, cannot figure out how this damn thing is supposed to work.

I don't think there is anything stopping you from lemoning a JGC and replacing it with another. It seems that "other people" have 2014's without this issue.

Well, are they even trying anything to fix this? I would be more upset with the dealer who told you they weren't going to try what the Jeep techs suggested "because it wouldn't do anything". Somehow I doubt the dealer's competence.

Furthermore, I think we all know how this HVAC is supposed to work. It is supposed to suck moderately (blows hotter air than you want/have set, approximately 105 F, until it decides it will finally obey you and blow the air temp you have configured, with no way to control this), but is NOT supposed to blow 130+ F air or turn the damn vehicle into a sauna.
