I did say you may have to put it on 85 because your system is broken.

But on a "working" system. You shouldn't put it on 85.

If you had it you would know it. Do yourself a favor and don't look for problems. The mind will invent them if it expects them to be there.

Re: Problem With 2014 Grand Cherokee Heater

I too, have the problem with it really overheating when the temp is set on 68. It is an irritant that it gets so warm that it borders on uncomfortable. Then it finally lowers to what I assume is 68 degrees. I find it ridiculous that a vehicle that costs $55K+ would have this kind of a problem.

I have owned several vehicles with climate control and this is not how they worked. I haven't gone in for my first service, but when I do, I'll register my complaint. My dealer is @70 miles from me.

I have to admit this: I've been an advocate of not crucifying Chrysler for the teething pains associated with the changes for the 2014 model year. BUT...this HVAC stuff is, admittedly, ridiculous. On a cold day mine will blow warm then suddenly switch to basically outside air temp (cold). Then, after a bit, searing fingers of superheated death start coming from the vents. After it's succeeded in burning all the hair off your body it suddenly goes back to ice cold (I presume as a last-ditch first-aid mechanism after roasting you).

The system is seriously demented. No question about it.

So are people having this issue that have had the HVAC TSB done? Wonder if a production date range can be pinpointed? I'd be happy to try to track the build date info and share if people want to post (admittedly I do not have this issue).

How about:

Build date
HVAC tsb done (y/n)
Trim (Laredo/limited/overland/summit)
Experienced on auto/manual/both

Anything else?

Re: Problem With 2014 Grand Cherokee Heater

Working through some issues with new models is something that I expect and accept. But what I don't expect or accept is that I am a few weeks away from the 1 year anniversary of buying my Jeep and they still do not have a TSB out to correct the erratic HVAC operation. They need to put more attention to this it is not some small isolated issue that can continue to be called "normal operation", it is not normal.

I haven't experienced the blast furnace and freezer effect yet but you'd think there would be a way of plugging a computer into the vehicle, let it collect data for a week while you drive it normally and then be able to determine something. These vehicles are loaded with firmware/software. There's got to be a way of tapping that data.

Re: Problem With 2014 Grand Cherokee Heater

I am dropping mine off at the dealer for the day on Monday. Will post an update once I get it back.
Took a three hour road trip in this car this week and the hvac sucks. I do think its very different when its not as cold outside. The sauna affect up front is not as bad but it still sucks for or all operation. I don't expect a miracle Monday given others reported this and they still have no fix.

I am not waiting till I am past 12000 miles, I will be calling the lemon law before that. Not sure it will do anything. If that does not work will see how it does through summer and ditch it before winter unless its bad in summer as well. I asked jeep to start paying my payments till its fixed, maybe that will help motivate them. Just need my third repair slip from monday and ready for legal

Never.. a new model should never have this many issues. My 2011, which was a completely brand new model had ZERO issues. The problem is they rushed this one out.

Here is an odd one.. for the first time since having the TSB done.... the read defrost was ON when i got in (after remote start!!!) w t f is going on with this!

Re: Problem With 2014 Grand Cherokee Heater

and.. the rear defrost stopped again....sigh. it worked twice (and yes, it has been below 40) and my outside temp sensor got stuck for 9 hours at -1 (it was 26 out) even after multiple stops and starts.

Re: Problem With 2014 Grand Cherokee Heater

Jeep back from the dealer and as I expected no fix. Said they pulled one off the lot and behaved the same. Doesn't mean it's right. Design flaw.
And convienent that the receipt I got back had nothing about my heater complaint only about my tire rotation. Service was closed when I got there and I will be calling tomorrow morning to get an updated receipt faxed and if they are not willing to do that I will drive down and get one in person. Gotta love it that the receipt mentions nothing about the sole reason I took my car in. It appears jeep did alot of things wrong on this model and the hvac being one of them. Have to admit even now that its getting warmer this hvac sucks. Not sure why its so hard to have one temp coming out.

I suppose its time to post my video link on all the car sites in a personal review.

My dealer did the same thing with a new jeep off the lot. Same results. My receipt states what happen and that operation is normal. I have heard that we should complain on the jeeps official twitter page maybe post your video on twitter they say that usually gets companies attention. I don't know what else yo do!!!
