That's good to know.

I had the flash applied in May and only have gotten to test the heater over the past few weeks. It's markedly less insane, though I get annoyed during the summer when it decides to blast me with the heater when I have the AC on and raise the temp by a degree or two ("really?!")

I require the system to provide constant airflow, and it's still not entirely comfortable when the fan is set to be constantly on. The difference of 1 degree change in the settings makes the system stabilize at too warm or too cold, and I know I'm not that sensitive given how broadly I comfortably let my house temp fluctuate. I might have them calibrate it based on this updated TSB at some point.

However, unlike last year, I'm not driving around in the winter with my window cracked open in subzero weather, wondering if Satan himself had designed & calibrated the cabin heater. So, that's a win. I definitely suggest anyone dissatisfied with their heater have this applied as applicable.

Re: Problem With 2014 Grand Cherokee Heater

Have posted in thread "Climate Control Questions" about my insane HVAC in this 2014 GC. Patience has run out. Service have applied all updates to the latest 24-003-14a, BMC updates and new PCM that recorded unusual cabin high temp at a previous visit, vehicle still the same. At least now with all there diagnostic equipment plugged in they observed it's insane operation first hand and what I have been putting up with for over 18 months.
Jeep you need to go back to the drawing board for this POS and it's unstable electronics.

Re: Problem With 2014 Grand Cherokee Heater

The issue is that the temperature setting outflow is based on return cabin air flow. The result is that on cold days you need to set the temperature for nearer 62 until the cabin warms up. Then raise the setting slowly. A very stupid design.

Thanks for the feedback much appreciated. Unfortunately the HVAC system is totally unstable in my vehicle and I do try and trim it for the correct comfort level but it will after a short time revert to a cooling mode and I have to go thru the sequence again. Set and forget is how a climate control is supposed to work. Jeep for the 2016 model should return the manual slide lever to get it right, forget state of the art they haven't got a clue.

I recently posted that I was anticipating a '16 Summit and asked if Jeep had figured this out yet. It was one of the annoying things that prompted me to dump my '14 Overland. For the last six months I've been driving a '15 Escape and haven't touched the temperature control since the day I bought it. That's been typical for my last few cars ... except the Jeep.

I must have missed this problem of yours... I made slight adjustments to mine up or down a couple of degrees but only ever when I was sitting in direct sunlight and it was hot. I did set mine and leave it for the entire time I had it pretty well.

I called Bergstrom and talked with Steve. I told him about jeep garage and shoestring and asked for help obtaining the star number so that my GC Limited could have HVAC repaired. He gave me S1424000003 and I hope this helps. Bergstrom is a long way from me or I would have my Jeep in there as soon as possible. Very patient with my phone call even though I've never walked in the door of their dealership....

Re: Problem With 2014 Grand Cherokee Heater

Have now had the Sun Sensor and Cabin Temp Sensor replaced. The system still has the temperature spike on start up, usually going 20c to 30c above ambient for several minutes but at least now it come back to selected temp in a reasonable time, not turning the cabin into a sauna. Still hotter than required, when the temp reduced it goes below selected initially for a few minutes then returns to selected to maintain the correct vent temp. The ambient temps at the moment are around the 20c and have 21c selected, so I still don't get the temp spike but at least I have one setting that seems to behave. Better than before but I think still WORK in progress!! Worst climate control system I have ever come across.

He also said that his new Dodge Durango did the same thing. He offered to contact Chrysler for me, and he forwarded their reply, which was that nothing could be done.

I am very frustrated about this. I never had this problem with my 2011 Jeep GC. When I set the temp at 68 in that one, it maintained the cabin temp at 68.

Is anyone else having this problem, and what can I do?

Thanks.
Our 2014 HVAC had ambient air on drivers side and heat or a/c as selected on passenger side. Went to Golling Jeep in Chelsea, Mich and talked with Service Mgr Jeff Powell and he and Mechanic Jeremy Poegel with help of Mechanic Matt... Fixed it.
Changed housing 24028025 plus antifreeze 01081004... Had the car 3 hours and it works perfect... Also did software updates and Hvac flash updates.... Diagnosed as failed drivers side blend air door... Replaced DHVAC dist housing.... Hope this helps

My 2015 GC Diesel keep changing the interior temperature on me while driving, quite big swings too and very annoying. Too cold, then too warm.
- Never had a car with climate control behave this way.

Same here, I am so disappointed that such a pricey vehicle would have this kind of issue.

My only solution so far has been to use only the defrost+foot setting, so that the temperature swings are less noticeable.

I guess Sergio Marchione is probably eating a huge ****ing bowl of Pasta right now figuring out how to merge FCA with a competitor...instead of fixing known HVAC issues
