Purchasing new wk2 advice

Hello everyone,

I am about to join the wk2 family this weekend after giving up with my piece of crap, yes i meant that, 2009 jeep grand cherokee 3.7. The car has 50,000 miles on it and has nothing but idle issues when it rains out which is some sort of electrical issue and after a year and a half of trying EVERYTHING to fix it, i am throwing in the towel and trading in the piece of crap. If your interested in reading my story on it, check my threads, but trust me its long and annoying. The jeep has got to go.

Anyways, I have a 2015 wk2 laredo that i will be looking into this weekend at the deal. Its got a price of 36,000, originally 40,000, really nice, 8.4 connect, sunroof, the works. The dealer has a few of them they want to get rid of by the end of the year. I plan on financing it and figure i can get 12,000 for my 09 since it still runs as long as its not raining or the roads are wet (again read my previous threads if you don't know what I'm talking about with the idle issues). Anyways, what i like to know is what is your experiences with the wk2? I hear a lot of great things about it and plan on financing cause i like customizing my cars. Do you guys have any suggestions for it? I know yes, purchase the jeep first, but did anyone customize theres? I'm not talking about lifts, don't plan on doing it, just like grill guards or accessories things like that. Also if there are any known problems with the 2015 model do share, i haven't heard anything bad about them so far

Purchasing new wk2 advice

Seriously? You've heard nothing bad about them so far? Grand Cherokees are rated amongst the worst by consumer reports. Not that I care, I'm on my third WK2. This thing has more TSBs (known problems by manufacturer) than any other vehicle probably ever!

Has anyone customized theirs? Well yeah, take a look around. This place is full of tricked out GCs.

Anyways, welcome. Good luck. And spend some time browsing the WK2 section here, there's a lot you could learn just by checking out the numerous threads.

Mine (2015 Altitude) has been in the shop for about a full month in the past year with weird electrical issues, vacum leaks, etc. Jeep has the worst customer service I have ever seen in any vehicle brand and I have owned many. I have nothing but negative things to say about the Jeep brand, and their dealerships such as RT4 Paramus NJ. I am and I would suggest you look into other brands. Nothing has change, I would say have gotten worse since your 2009 WK. Jeep service is so bad that they would damage your bumper cover when replacing a defective headlight, and you don't have any way to prove it was them who damaged it.

Re: Purchasing new wk2 advice

I just came from a 2014 GMC Sierra Crew Cab. I had zero issue with mine, but those guys bitched and moaned about everything. This place is nothing compared to the GMC boards.

I've had Mustangs and Toyotas. All message boards have people complaining about things.

I had my GMC for 2 years and I had 3 recalls done. Some models with 4x4 had 5 recalls done. Every manufacture is recall happy right now; so I wouldn't say recalls mean the vehicle is bad.

I guarantee there are more GC's out there, where the owners are completely happy and have zero problems.

Thanks for the advice guys. Saw a blacked out 2015 wk2 rims and paint with 8.4 screen, sunroof, rear camera, remote start, the works for 40,000. Plan on finance and dealer said they give me 10,400 for trade in, 519 a month with 0% for 60months, though they aren't sure yet if I qualify for the 0%, otherwise it be 1.9 apr. what do you guys think of the deal as it stands now? Took a lot of negotiation. 09 wk has 49,700, nothing final yet

Last year when I was looking for my '15 I walked out of the Paramus dealership after about 10min. Never looked back. Took me about 20min to walk out of the Ramsey dealership too >_<

Re: Purchasing new wk2 advice

Bought this one today, same price but got 1,000 knocked off and a 373 payment a month financed. Put 10,000 down along with trade in of 10,400.
