Does anyone know if it is possible or if anyone had done a MOD for push button start and or smart key entry? My GF lex had it where if you walk up to the car with the ker on you the doors unlock in 5 seconds or there is a sensor behind the door handle thatcwjen you put your hand behind it that door unlocks. And when you get inside to start the car you have to press the brake and at the same time push the button to start the car. Kancygia be done on an 09 WK???
The push button start would be *possible* (even though the SRT engineers said it couldn't be done) but would be quite expensive. I'd have to check my archived notes but seems like it was in the $600-$700 range for the parts. I have some photos of a 2009 WK pilot model with the push start and proximity entry, as a friend of mine got to drive it. The feature was dropped at the last minute for reasons I am not sure of (cost perhaps), it's even listed and desribed in some of the owner, service and parts manuals.
I decided to dig out my notes on the Keyless-Go, this is still a project/mod that I would like to verify for the WK (it has worked on other Chrysler vehicles). I was able to get all of the part numbers for the WK. What's required are two new key fobs (special keyless-go versions), a PEM (Passive Entry Module), Start/Stop button, WIN module (wireless ignition) and a couple of antennas (installed hidden in interior).
The MSRP for the parts is around $625, so someone wanting to do this conversion would be looking at ~$500-$550 discounted. Dealer programming is also required (for PEM recognition and activation, as well as fobik-to-WIN programming etc.).
I also have the part numbers for the Proximity Entry door handles, but I need to find someone in engineering to confirm what would be required beyond installation of the handles for the option to work. The handles are chrome.
I love this option in my GF car. You never have to take the key out of your pocket. Would be cool if they could program your cellphone to be your key for push button and Proximity Entry.
My wifes lexus has the same thing...no need to even get the key fob out...but her Lexus also has a credit card type card that you can just leave in your pocket, billfold or purse and it recognizes it as you approach.....turns on the puddle lights, unlocks the doors, moves the seat into your position and puts the stereo on your settings. pretty cool little item.

Yeah and won't lock the doors or trunk if the keys are inside the car. It even knows which side of the car you're on and only unlocks the drivers side unless you're on the other side. and you press the button on the handle to lock the car.
IMO...the RX350 has a justifiably higher sticker. Ask Blackpepper...his mom has anew 2010 RX350. They are sweet...although not my taste...LOL. The Lexus dealer can program the car to do all sorts of things. It can unlock all doors, one door, two doors....and other things on approach. It depends on what you like. The same with the headlamps, interior lamps, puddle lamps, radio, ac, nav etc. Its pretty neat what they can program.
Tru.... My mom just paid 36k for an '09 Murano. It's sweet inside but I don't like the non touch screen nav. But a nice BOSE streo system. and pretty quick. My pops '09 MKZ is nice too. I like the projector fogs and lows that are adaptive lighting and his airconditioned seats.
if you're looking for luxury you're not looking at jeep. nothing against our trucks but we're looking for something that doesnt scream soccer mom LOLOL... not a fan of those rx's either
I will take less "luxury" in exchange for a much more intuitive and "cleaner" interior layout. Some of the Acura/etc. interiors I have seen have an endless array of confusing buttons and controls. I can operate pretty much any control on my Jeep without even looking at it (like the HVAC controls).
A close relative of mine bough a Lexus IS-250 a few years ago, around the time I bought my first WK SRT. I have had only a couple very minor issues with the two WK's I have owned the past 4 years. The IS-250 has been in the shop more times than I can count, for all kinds of issues, mainly electrical. The only "good" thing with that is that the Lexus service is outstanding, he gets a loaner car every time (current models) and they have covered non-warranty items - he backed out of his garage one day and took off the driver mirror. It was a $700 part, and Lexus had it shipped via air from Japan and installed it free, parts and labor!
