Quadra-Lift Reliability

Has the Quadra-Lift been reliable or have many of you had failures? I am wondering if I should buy an extended warranty on my 2014 when it arrives.

Re: Quadr-Lift Reliability

I have a 2011 JGC with Quadra-Lift and have had no problems. I think it is a very useful feature. But, I still bought the extended warranty.

Re: Quadr-Lift Reliability

I had the pump and valve replaced due to leakage at 14k. It's fine now, but it could have issues down the road, not to mention all the other technological advances in this vehicle. I bought the warranty, which includes other benefits as well.

Re: Quadr-Lift Reliability

No issues with mine.

As to the extended service contract, I historically haven't really purchased them, but did buy the lifetime Maxcare for my Summit two nights ago because I now tend to keep vehicles much longer, am putting on more miles faster than previous due to some changes in my job and because there are so many complex and expensive electrical/electronic/mechanical systems on these cars now. I bought my contract online from another dealer for a substantially lower cost than my dealer was willing to sell it for, too... You don't need to make the extended service contract decision right away unless you want to roll it into your financing...which could be expensive if your dealer will not "deal" on the contract price. FYI, I paid $2185 for the Lifetime Maxcare with $100 deductible...at least a thousand less than the dealer. Even if I have to pay it off over two or three months for some reason (on a CC), I came out way ahead of buying it at the time of my vehicle purchase.

Which version of warranty did you buy (years/miles)?

Re: Quadr-Lift Reliability

There is a poll around here that shows the vast majority of QL owners do not encounter a single problem.
That said, my '11 Overland is currently in the shop for a QL failure (#2). Exactly one year ago (Jan.) I had the exact failure, preceded by frequent notifications on the EVIC with "System Cooling Down". Then one day the Jeep was way down low and EVIC had "Immediate Service Required". It was drivable and so took it the dealer where it stayed about 3 days for them to check for any leaks. No leakes were found but they replaced a "valve" in the compressor as "suggested by engineering". Well this week it happened again and I expected something because the "System Cooling Down" came on a few times over the previous three weeks. In fact, I went into the dealer a few days before to discuss what I should do and I was hoping to wait for spring weather to check the system.
Again, the nitrogen tank was low, they refilled it, waited 24 hrs and NO leak found. They plan to change the same valve again as suggested by engineering. I'm still waiting for that valve. My warranty is up in September, so I was curious as to what's the price of the valve and was told about $1600.
Despite this, this has been my favorite Grand Cherokee of all (my 4 th) and this will not change my feelings for it. As mentioned before, my research shows that his is not a common problem so if I had to do it all over again, I would still go with the Quadra Lift option.

I use the park mode daily for easy entry/exit. That's about it. I rarely use the higher levels.

Re: Quadr-Lift Reliability

I use mine daily for park and aero mode. I use mine less frequently to lift up for clearance. I use it quite frequently to lift up for protection from door dings (MOPAR side steps work great for protection from dings).

No issues with mine. Only seen the "waiting for cooling" once because I went from park to OR2 back to park all in succession. It cooled down for a few seconds and all was good.

Knock on wood, no issues with QL and love it.

Do you think Quadra-Lift rides any smoother?

Re: Quadr-Lift Reliability

I can't say if QL is smoother than non-QL, but honestly, my Summit as nearly as comfy on the highway (most of my driving) as my 83 yo dad's Caddy. Park mode came in handy when the 'rents visited over the holidays and I'm actually now in the habit of pushing that button when I come in the driveway most of the time as a result. I also like the self-leveling benefit, both when adding passengers and when I tow my small horse trailer.

Definitely. It's much smoother IMO. Aero mode drops it down reducing spring rate and allowing for a more comfortable highway ride.

Air suspension is totally worth it. I wouldn't buy the GC without it.
