As stated, my QL failed right after I bought it new but it was fixed and has never given me a problem since.

Re: Quadralift FAILED

Wait till 2013 IMO.

Although it seems like most of the bugs are ironed out of the QL for 2012 it still has its recalls/tsb's etc.

My 2012 had a rear right shock "creaking" noise right out of the dealer which they promptly replaced the shock. ( known issue )

Now I have a "thud" in the rear suspension on acceleration, ( another known issue) which calls for the replacement of the rear shocks ).

She goes up and down fine no issues,, however there is a noticeable drop in "absortion" in the front suspension. we will see what is diagnosed with that issue..

Im thinking wait till 2013.

If I had a do-over I would opt out of QL all together unless I had another vehicle and some extra inconvenience $$ to make all these trips back and forth to the dealer..

Re: Quadralift FAILED

Our (early manufacture) 2012 had the compressor crap out after 11k miles. Judging from the current JG poll (separate thread), it would appear some 20% or so of users are having QL problems to varying degrees.

I'm not a statistician but I believe the poll is flawed if trying to gauge the % of problems per vehicle sold. I know you only need a relatively small sample size to get a reliable figure but that sample needs to be random. In this case you have people motivated to tell their story. People who have never had a problem might never bother reading the troubleshooting thread. My point is 1 in 5 people having trouble with quadralift simply cannot be right. Chrysler would go broke with that kind of warranty claim.

I do see value in the poll however for people who have had problems to see the resolution they might expect based on other's history.

Agree completely on that last point.

As to the larger issue, sure -- it's an opt-in survey within a universe skewed to some unknown degree. We can only speculate as to the impact on the resulting figures. But it arguably gives at least a rough sense of the issue, given that the universe consists solely of WK2 users, however motivated.

From talking with Jeep techs, it would seem that the actual proportion of QL failures is significantly lower than the 18-20 percent or whatever that we're seeing here. Only Chrysler really knows, but you get a sense that the guy in the warranty office who's wearing diapers is the one in charge of QL reimbursements.

but even by manufacturing standards 10% is abnormally high. 100% duty cycle compressors are maybe $100-$150 cost, why skimp on a part that will be taxed so much during the life of the vehicle? The amount of failures within the warranty period are already large, imagine the out of warranty headaches that will occur. Luckily I got mine replaced in warranty, I'm just hoping they fixed whatever engineering issues that caused the original one to fail, otherwise i'll be back in the dealership this time next year.

Completely agree this poll is not scientific. Chrysler has sold a ton of WK2s, though I've never seen stats on how many are equipped with QL. Lots of people may have not had a problem and we would never know on this forum. While I agree that anecdotal evidence indicates the system has some issues I'm not too surprised since its Chrysler's first implementation of this type of system that there are bugs. I'm okay with that providing they fix it correctly, which appears to be happening. I would definitely buy my overland again as I love it. As far as quadralift goes, I like the features but if my overland didn't have it I would be okay too. Personally I would not get a limited because I would require the other overland exclusive features such as saddle interior and cooled seats.

QL is the Achilles' heel of the WK2.

Re: Quadralift FAILED

After a week with the QL not going into OR1.

OK were to start the QL is now working again.

After pressure cleaning my jeep today, I got in and started it up.
Then noticed the EVIC informing me it was in OR2.
LOL
What now.

1 Gone from not going to OR1 with 3 orange lights on the selector button just flashing for ever and up symbol. 14/05/2012 480km travelled that day.
2 To pushing the button and nothing happening no symbol in the EVIC. 15/05/2012 1550km travelled 420km on gravel That day.
3 To all working normally after pressure cleaning the car. Note I did not clean under the bonnet. 19/05/12 another 300km around town. 31000km on the odometer.

You might try pulling apart the cable connector to the QL compressor. Don't know exactly where it is, but my mechanic found ours full of dirt and water, so cleaned and dried it then sealed it with silicone goop.
