quadralift linked to door locks?

Noticed some characteristics with my quadralift. 2 nights ago i parked it in the driveway in offroad 2 and locked it and went inside. In the morning it seemed to still be all the way up.

Tonight i parked it in offroad 2 when i got home from having the new duratracs put on so i could see the new tires at full lift. 5 minutes after i parked it the quadralift lowered itself significantly while i was looking at it, without me starting it or doing anything. But i never locked the car. When i checked it after i saw it lower itself it was in normal ride height.

No cold weather involved. Seems if you lock the car the quadralift holds its setting, if you dont lock it the ql resets itself to normal ride height after a few minutes. Is that correct?

Re: quadralift linked to door locks?

I tried it again this morning. Parked it in the driveway in offroad 2 height. Locked it. Took the key fob in the house. Measured the distance from the top of the tire to the bottom of the fender. It has been parked for 30 minutes with no change, it is still at offroad 2 height. Others on another forum said their quadralift goes down no matter what they do with the door locks. Mine was built in Oct 2013. I am thinking jeep included a lockout feature to keep the suspension from dropping when not wanted, at least in the most recent models.

Re: quadralift linked to door locks?

I use q/l all the time in the summer, on the beach. It stays at whatever height it is at, locked or not. It will try to level itself no matter what setting it is at.

As I've mentioned before, my only gripe with my Jeep, is that when I restart it and switch back to sand mode, it lowers itself. This is the exact opposite of what the owner's manual and common sense dictate.

Re: quadralift linked to door locks?

Last night with the doors unlocked and car off it lowered itself from offroad 2 to normal ride height after about 3 or 4 minutes.

Re: quadralift linked to door locks?

I guess every Jeep has it's own personality.

Others have mentioned they raise the vehicle to OR II to do oil changes and such. I hope they take your experience to heart and use jack stands.

Re: quadralift linked to door locks?

Lol. So far i have Bills 2014 that stays up no matter what. 2kg4u's 2014 on the other forum goes down no matter what he does with the door locks. And my 2014 stays up when locked and goes down automatically when unlocked. Haha.

Re: quadralift linked to door locks?

Mine stays up either locked or unlocked. When I change my oil I lift it to ORII (and keep it unlocked) and it doesn't lower down until I tell it to.

Re: quadralift linked to door locks?

I guess one other difference between today and yesterday is that i shut off the quadralift (holding up down buttons together until evic said suspension was disabled) so the guys at the tire shop could jack it up to change tires. But my understanding was that once you start driving it again the quadralift automatically re-engages. So the 10 minute drive home and lifting it to offroad 2 before pulling in my driveway last night meant it must have been re-engaged.

Also mine did not just automatically level itself last night when i left the doors unlocked. It dropped from offroad 2 to normal height after being off for 4-5 minutes, i watched it drop and was standing 5 feet from it when it happened, and the height indicator lights confirmed it went down to normal ride height.

so far today it seems to be staying at offroad 2 height even with doors unlocked.

Re: quadralift linked to door locks?

Regarding oil change, If you don't want the QL to do anything, leave a door open. That stops any lowering dead in it's tracks. I started leaving a door open after it tried to adjust on me while I was hooking up a trailer ... good way to loose a finger.

Edit: To the OP, mine is like Bill's, other than a little adjusting to achieve level, it stays in whatever height I parked it in.

Re: quadralift linked to door locks?

Mine seems to be holding offroad 2 height while parked today both with doors locked and unlocked.

i am thinking then that the auto drop last night must have been due to disabling the quadralift for the tire change guys? But it was obviously re-engaged since it let me lift to offroad 2 height before parking in my driveway last night. Any thoughts??

But again, it was a full drop from offroad 2 to normal height that i saw with my own eyes and confirmed by the height indicator lights in the car. It happened 4 or 5 minutes after the car was shut down.

Re: quadralift linked to door locks?

Have any of you disabled quadralift before like i did for the tire shop guys to jack it up last night about an hour before the unexpected automatic drop happened?
