Question on voltage.

Because I do more reading than posting, I apologize if this is posted on the wrong section. Now on ward to why I'm posting. Long story short I never paid much attention to the battery voltage meter until now. Usually just keep it set up to monitor tire pressure. Btw- driving a 2015 GC altitude. Any way, I've noticed past several weeks during the day voltage is a steady 15. At night it fluctuates between 14-15. When steering corners it might hit 13 that doesn't last not even a second. Beginning earlier today the jeep was at a steady 15. Halfway through the day it became a steady 14. When driving it will fluctuate between 14-15. Now tonight as week speak, with lights on it remains at a solid 14, drops to 13 every so often. Is this normal behavior. I understand these trucks have some new type of battery in them, but I know nothing about the battery or the vehicles charging system. I did get some hids recently, but they were professionally installed at a reputable shop, and when I turn the lights off they stay off. So I know it's not that.

Am I going crazy or what? Feel free to call me paranoid. I will take no offense. Lmao.

Re: Question on voltage.

It appears your Jeep is functioning perfectly. Don't worry unless you see your voltage drop below 12 volts which would indicate the battery is being discharged. Voltage readings around 14 are normal for a 12v system. You're being paranoid.

Re: Question on voltage.

My gauge bounces between 14 and 15 volts.

Re: Question on voltage.

I have one more question. I plan installing a 20 inch led bar and retro fitting it into the honeycomb plastic mesh beneath the front license. Would installing that require a stronger alternator?

Re: Question on voltage.

No. LED's hardly draw any amps. You'll be fine.

Re: Question on voltage.

Sweet. I have 55 watt ballast for headlights and fogs. The vehicle would never have an issue in the future. Right? I've seen other owners install and decided to follow their foot steps. Compared to the 35watt, the 55watt will give you an extra 1000-2000 lumens. It is my understanding hid kits draw less power than halogens. I would have installed led kits, but couldn't find one that works well with our projectors.

Re: Question on voltage.

You should be all good until you decide to install a huge winch on the front. Then you may want dual alternators.

Re: Question on voltage.

Great. That's way into the future. I'm definitely installing a winch. It just sucks they don't have many accessories for this truck like they do other models, particular more towards extra lights. I'll get creative when the time comes. Thanks for help folks. You've all been awesome.
