Radiator fan and overheating

Good day,
Please help me in this issue of my 2011 grand cherokee laredo 3.6 , the car get overheating the reason is radiator electric fan. Some time is working some times it's not.
When I get overheating I stop check the fan and found it not working. Whenever I switch the car off and after 1 minute turned it on again I notice the fan start to run with high speed. Then coolant temp reduce. I've replaced the fan but the same problem occurs again. So it's not the fan itself problem. I suspect the coolant temp sensor but I've already replace it 9 months ago. I don't know what's the relation that when I turned the car OFF then ON the fan stat to run.

Please help me in this if you ever had the same or you have any info.

Regards,

Having a similiar issue as of lately. MY Gc temp guage will go to red after idling for like 20 minutes or so. I have purchased a new cts but worry maybe it's a fan issue as well. Hopefully someone can shed some light on this concern.

Re: Radiator fan and overheating

Does turning the A/C on turn the fan on?

Radiator fan and overheating

Thanks for your reply,

It's not thermostat issue. I've already replaced it recently.

Yeah, whenever I turned AC the fan started but not always some times it didn't.

In that case I'd check or just replace the relay that runs the fan.

Re: Radiator fan and overheating

Then next you have to check if the relay is being commanded on with a test light. If it is and your fan is not turning on the issue is downstream of the relay. If its not then the issue lies elsewhere, in the pcm possibly?

scroll down till you see, "service auto repair beta ". click the link

depending on what package you have it may be a complicated fix.

Thanks, I will try that. I need to do more troubleshooting to find out the cause.
Best regards,
