Maybe because I have not had a sensing wipers before I didn't know what they were supposed to do.

Re: Rain Sensing Wipers

Yes, wife's Vovlo XC-70's are more sensitive, but these are fine with me. As a matter of fact frequent changes in wiper speed from slow to fast and back drive me a little nuts. The sensor should be on the windshield behind the rear view mirror.

I believe it is behind the rearview mirror directly on the windshield.

Re: Rain Sensing Wipers

Actually, I give Jeep props for having a setting via the EVIC that lets you turn them into timer-based intermittent wipers. On our WJ there is no alternative to the rain sensing.

Re: Rain Sensing Wipers

Mine doesn't work nearly as well as the one on my 2005 WK. The 2005 was flawless.

First of all, I'm one that doesn't like the wipers to work too often. Usually putting them on the lowest sensitivity level on my 2005. I can handle drops of water to accumulate before the wipers go.

Now, with the WK2 they aren't sensitive enough at even the highest sensitivity setting. Sometimes it will work better than other times.

Under a very heavy downpour they will work VERY FAST but about every 4-5 seconds they will kind of stutter and go slow for just a split second and then pick up speed again. It is almost as if they slow down to see if they can go slower but then realize that there is still too much water and speed back up again. It gets very annoying on a long trip.

So, as compared to my 2005 JGC, the 2011 WK2 doesn't work nearly as well. Probably the only complaint I have on the car besides the worthless as crap 430N's iPhone/iPod interface (which doesn't work at all).

Re: Rain Sensing Wipers

In Portland (where it rains daily) they work great. The wipers slow down when you are stopped, they increase speed when you accelerate and they see some rain.

I have no problems with mine. I do put them in 4th setting all the time for it to work the way I want them to.

This has been my experience with them as well. During the last rain, I went back to the manual setting, perhaps I am old school. Jury is still out on this feature.

Re: Rain Sensing Wipers

I've never liked rain sensing wipers and am glad that Jeep included a way to disable them from the DIC. To turn them off on my Suburban I had to disconnect the cord from the sensor on the windshield.
