Rainy Brake Support

I know GC's are suppose to have rainy brake support, it's listed as Late Availability. Does anyone know when that began production or if it has even been put into production?

Re: Rainy Brake Support

I don't know that we've seen a definitive answer to this. It's been asked before, but I don't know if it was answered.

Looks like it started being included on orders around 11/18. Sales code is BHC. It's standard on all models.

Ready Alert Braking as well (around 11/18, sales code BHD, also standard on all models).

Re: Rainy Brake Support

Anyone know how this works or if it's that effective? Burst of ABS pre-braking in wet conditions? Squeegies come out and dry the rotor in front of the brake pad? Thanks.

Re: Rainy Brake Support

Rain brake support pulses the brakes in wet weather to dry the brakes. I would assume it uses the windshield wipers to determine if it is raining? It does help, but as to how many extra feet in the rain I do not know. Also people might be looking for new brake pads sooner if you live in a really wet climate, LOL

Rain Brake Support:
Rain Brake Support is always active when the windshield wipers are operating in low or high settings. When active, the ABS pump periodically pushes the brake pads lightly against the brake rotors to help keep the rotors dry. By keeping the brake rotors drier in wet weather, this feature helps to ensure that the brakes perform at their peak level of efficiency and effectiveness when a driver presses the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. Rain Brake Support contributes to enhanced driving confidence by reassuring the driver of optimum stopping power and solid brake pedal feel during wet road conditions.

Ready Alert Braking:
When a driver lifts his/her foot off the accelerator pedal abruptly, Ready Alert Braking prompts the antilock braking system to apply a slight amount of brake pressure to set the brake pads against the rotors – “readying” the brakes for full application. This makes full braking power available more quickly and may help reduce stopping distances.

Re: Rainy Brake Support

How can I find when the jeep was built? We are buying it off the lot. sticker on the door says 11/10 build date. Is there anyway they can do a flash to update the software?

Re: Rainy Brake Support

Just checked with jeep support. No rainy brake support. Still going to buy the jeep. Anyway to add it down the road. Jeep directed me to the dealer.

Re: Rainy Brake Support

I would rather it not be on a car of mine. Seems that it will increase both pad and rotor wear. This will shorten the life of those components significantly for little to no gain. Also if it is applied too much such as in really wet climates like the Washington state area rotor warpage could become a problem. The brake dusting of the wheels will also increase significantly.

I wouldn't want the ready alert either. Several people have already complained about their JGC not "free" coasting when letting off the accelerator pedal, this will only aggrevate this situation.

Re: Rainy Brake Support

Some good points, I have it on my BMW and the wheels are black after a week of driving from brake dust, but that might just be the brake pad material. Either way, I just want my jeep to be up to date I guess. I don't want to miss out on anything and I know the brakes on the BMW are always ready!
