This is definitely a caveat emptor scenario, because a knockoff replacement AGM battery for our WK2's is like $300. It's far more expensive than that if you go through the dealer for a replacement.
Don't know where you read that, but you are incorrect. All are safe, the Plus just have a more aggressive absorption mode and timer. I use their 800 for the boats which have agm's and no issues.

Re: Ran out of Battery and get it towed to the dealership.

So here an update. It turn out one of the cell of the battery is broken, so they end up replacing the battery. I am sitting at the dealership waiting room now and expecting to getting my Jeep back for the next 10-15 minutes. When I walk in the dealership, I saw a Renegade in front of the dealership. I am thinking getting a car for driving in town and I think the Renegade is a good candidate for it. What trim do you think I should get?ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1426788960.859221.jpg

Re: Ran out of Battery and get it towed to the dealership.

I'm glad they got it fixed. No pics of the battery being removed and replace?

The cost of another vehicle will pay for a whole lot of gas for the Grand Cherokee...

As I said, from Deltran's own FAQ.

Quote:
RECHARGING AGM BATTERIES: The Battery Tender® has an absorption charge mode, but the the Battery Tender® Plus has a different absorption mode maximum charge voltage and a timer to hold the absorption voltage longer. These specific changes were made to accommodate the charging requirements of Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) style lead acid batteries.
But hey, it's your Jeep.

The other candidate would be the Subaru VX

Re: Ran out of Battery and get it towed to the dealership.

You can easily diconnect the battery under passenger seat. Just remove the ground.

2.5mo is long, but if everything is in ship shape it shpuld have started with no extra help.

Especially stored inside.

Dead cell explains everything.

Re: Ran out of Battery and get it towed to the dealership.

Meanwhile - AGM batteries are more prone to damage in case deep discharge...
And in case deep discharge they just may fail to charge again...
So in case long 'off-car' period you at least can put the car in SHIP MODE - press and hold for more than 5 sec BROWSE + FRONT DEFROST buttons.
Uconnect will go black... This is the state, in which dealer stores the cars, and when more than usual 'power drain' components are switched off..
To return back to 'customer mode', repeat procedure...

Of course you can use battery chargers (yes - there must be noted, that charger is safe for AGM batteries, which are also prone to damade in case overvoltage/overcharging).. Or simply disconnect the battery (move far up and forward passenger seat and you can easily access battery connectors...
