Random "Beep Beep" driving me crazy!

Hey All,

I have a problem that is really driving me insane. I have tried every setting and button to try and fix it but to no avail.

Whilst driving..... anywhere, any speed in any mode, with or without all the other gizmo's..... I get a "Beep Beep" (which also mutes the radio, CD - what ever is playing). I cannot figure out for the life of me what it is. I have tried turning everything off but it doesn't seem to help. Nothing, no error messages or lights come on at all when these beeps occur.

It seems almost random.

I am in Australia in case it makes a difference. And its the CRD Limited.

Some of us here in the States are having problems with the FCW system beeping at strange times. Could it be that?

Re: Random "Beep Beep" driving me crazy!

It’s usually associated with the Nav and the speed limit settings. A few people didn’t have the issue, then when they applied the recent Nav system update they had it. In most cases it simply went away after a few days.
Turn off any speed warnings (Settings > Speed Limits) and see if it helps. Do the beeps happen all of the time, or only when you have a course set with the Nav?

You can also try a couple of system resets.

SOFT RESET:
This reset will retain your settings.
Hold MUTE and TUNE buttons for reboot. .

If that does nothing.... then:

FACTORY RESET:
This engineering reset will wipe all your settings.
Hold TEMP up and TEMP down buttons to access engineering menu.
When it restarts it will do so with SRT screen, and take a few minutes to few hours to get back to normal.

Just wanted to say thanks SNUKE! Those settings must have been turned back on with the update! Turned them off, and reset it for good measure and it hasn't happened since!

Soo much better was starting to get very annoying!

Re: Random "Beep Beep" driving me crazy!

Hi all, I am new here. Nice to meet everyone.

I got this same problem of 'beep beep' intermittently.
I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Diesel, delivered 4 days ago only.

Had tried the following to no avail:
- turned off Sat Nav
- Disconnected Bluetooth devices
- Restored default on speedometer settings
- Test driven above and under speed limit (warning sound is different)
- Reduces your music volume when it happens
- Happens only when driving

I have tried to get my partner to record it, this is how it sounds like:

Issue seems to happen more often on Sydney city.
Stopped after going on highway.
Any chance this might be related to proximity warning (not even sure if Limited has this function)?

I still can return the car since it is under 3 business days under our 'lemon law' but hope I dont have to go through that (and I just paid $1000 for paint protection). Hope someone could shed some light if this is something major?

Appreciate your thoughts guys.

Thank you
AlexC

I have until 5 July 2014 if I were to return this car. Hopefully someone could suggest something soon... Cheers

Re: Random "Beep Beep" driving me crazy!

Any stored messages in the EVIC? If you are that concerned roll into a dealer now and get the problem documented, maybe they will do a quick scan for any codes being thrown.

Re: Random "Beep Beep" driving me crazy!

I always like a owners manual easter egg hunt and they seem to use the word "chime". I searched the latest Owners Manual, User Guide and Diesel Supplement and only found single/one chime stuff like DEF, water in fuel, engine too hot warnings, no double/two chimes anywhere....hrmff

Re: Random "Beep Beep" driving me crazy!

No stored messages. Have tried the soft reset this morning suggested by snuke, didn't work.
Have since sent it in to the dealership, they will do a test on it. Depending on what they say and if it happens again I might do a factory reset.
Might also ask them to give a written statement for a new car replacement if not fixed in 3 months. See how it goes, will update later.
