rattle coming from shifter/cup holder area

I googled it a couple of times, i found one service call for a harness by the pedals. I'm 90% sure the noise is not coming from my feet and it's right under the cup holder. When i open the center console glovebox it sounds louder leading me to believe it is in the arm rest shift knob area.

Has anyone experienced this? I don't even want to bother with Jeep, their service centers in my aread (nassau county NY), are so terrible. It seems like they only want to help you if you purchased the car from them. I unfortunately purchased in another county since i worked (past tense) in that county at the time.

If no one has experienced this where could i find instructions on how to remove the glove box, and cup holder to secure all lose wires and such? When traveling at highway speeds a pebble will make it rattle. it sounds like a leaf spring in an old cadilac, in that it gets quieter as it levels itself.

Thanks for any responses in advance.

Re: rattle coming from shifter/cup holder area

I am in the same boat as you, mine started about a month ago (i have 9000miles on a 2014 GC). It drives me crazy. The only way to make it stop is to apply downward pressure to the center console and/or cup holder. I haven't taken it to the dealer either but am about to that point.

I am open to any opinions as well.

Thank you ahead of time.

Re: rattle coming from shifter/cup holder area

I found out that those little spring loaded "things" in your cap holder that grab you cup can rattle a bit. It drives me nuts. Once I take out my cup out of cup holder or put a bigger one it goes away ...

Not sure if this is the same thing that you guys describe but that drives me nuts.

It's not faint and it sounds like it's got weight to it. Best described as a leaf spring on a cadillac. the sound, and speed of the rattle slows as the energy behind it dissipates.

I went to two dealers still nothing, but they are also refusing to follow any of my instruction. I spent sometime looking at it and realized i can produce the sound by tapping on the right corner of the instrument cluster for the rear seats (the vent behind the passenger seat). i wedged a pen between the rug, and where the hard plastic that holds the vents for the back seats are. It helps the sound, but it's still there. I'm almost convinced that it's a bundle of wires that was not properly secured. The tecs drive it and don't hear it, so they refused to bill hours for taking out the arm rest and such to go on my hunch.

I've thought about going to a sound place and having them open it up for me and secure everything but i'm afraid of my own luck.
