The quick little "double knock" at 4 seconds is what I hear in my brand new WK2 Overland. I kept thinking it sounded like knocking glass coming from the trunk.

Re: Rattle - Rear Passenger inside compartment area

The knock sound infuriates me. I'm going to try and figure it out this weekend as the dealer has been useless.

Re: Rattle - Rear Passenger inside compartment area

OK, I figured it out. Got under the Jeep and had someone push down on the back. It's definitely the right rear shock making the knocking noise. Scheduled an apt for Monday for them to replace it.

Re: Rattle - Rear Passenger inside compartment area

Replacing the right rear shock took care of my "clunking" noise problem (for now). The shock is the same as the one that was replaced, so the noise may return. However, I am enjoying my "clunk noise free" Jeep for the first time since I purchased it. I have a 2014 Summit 5.7 with self leveling shocks. I also had the entire back end covered with Dynamat, and that really helps cover up any other rear end noises........

Re: Rattle - Rear Passenger inside compartment area

So I brought the Jeep in to the dealership today to fix my shock noise issue. Got there at 8:00am and waited. They stated that the Jeep also needed a bunch of Flash updates. At 3:00pm they said they were all done.

I go to leave and go over all the paper work, they did the following flashes:

Flash for HVAC
Flash for ASCM
Flash for DTCM
Flash for TCM

I get to the end of the paperwork about the shock noise, it says "Test for concern did not duplicate"

I was pissed and about lost my sh** since that was the entire reason I was there.

I was about to buy a shock (even though the warranty should cover it), since I knew that was the problem.

The service manager had their lead mechanic go on a test drive with me. 2 seconds into the drive you could hear the noise. I drove for another 30 seconds with the noise happening the entire time and said "do we need to keep hearing this?"... Drove back to the service area and the mechanic instructed the service manager to order a new shock and shock mount.

Thank god this is finally going to be resolved, been hearing this noise for months now.
