Re: Rattle Trap

My 2015 Overland is the quietest most solid feeling car I have ever driven.

Had to buy a Volant cold air intake to make some noise

Of course cranking the Alpine would dampen any rattles anyway so you wouldnt hear them.

Oh drive a convertible and any car will sound quiet LOL

Plenty of chittering, chirping squeaks from the cargo cover, which I leave covering the rear at all times. It's basically a constant background noise triggered whenever going over the slightest bump or any gust of wind. An occasional squeak from the driver side A pillar/windshield and also from under the console. I just turn up the volume to drown it out.

x2, make that convertible a wrangler and one learns to appreciate the WK2
Cracks me up how they put a Bluetooth mic in the wrangler and ya need to stop to so ya can hear

Anyway, knock wood, my 3 day old overland is very quiet...more than my 2012 was.

Yeah, I did not like the OEM mounting solution with only 2 rear fasteners. I went to the dealer and bought a "license plate hardware kit" that came with the screws and 2 foam blocks I put at the bottom. I used a flexible glue (similar to rubber cement) between the plate and plate frame as well.

You had to buy a "kit" for what was standard on the 14?

  • Driver side A pillar/dash: Only happens around mid acceleration. Sounds like a guitar string vibrating.
  • Console: Squeak comes and goes for no apparent reason. Almost sounds like it is rubbing against a seat, but doesn't go away except when opening the lid.
  • Liftgate: This only started after removing the panel to remove the tail lights. It is just a constant rattle unless driving on very smooth roads.
What , A Fiat with rattles, My Grand Cherokee has more rattles then miles on it , Grill, Wheel trim, Dash, Rear lift gate, front seats ,Top of the line Jeep my Butt.

Re: Rattle Trap

Maybe this will help some of you with your rattles, my 2015 GC Altitude
has had three noises since I got it. I finally have fixed all three and I have
12,000 miles on it.

1st. rattle low rpm under dash by steering wheel, with help from this forum
it turned out being in the engine compartment. I took large zip tie on hose
in right side my back of engine and zip tied it up to a hose above it. Excuse
me but I don't have tread link but it under noise category.

2nd. Squeak in drivers seat when getting in and out , I put Velcro along
left plastic side panel and folded it over so seat cushion would not rub on
it.

3rd. Drivers door striker when door was shut the door latch would mover
making noise when going over bumps and pulling in out of driveways. I
took a pic pen housing cut a small piece of , then cut slit and put it over
door striker with some Krtox lube I got from Amazon. I also made sure all
other doors had lube on then to.

Hope this helps any of you that my have simalar noises, my Jeep is now
totally silent

Re: Rattle Trap

I gave my Jeep GC back to the Dealer in Florida, He wanted to blame everything on Jeep and failed to fix anything, We then find out this Jeep was in the Flood at the Jeep Plant at Jefferson North last year, Pay $46,000.00 for the top of the line Jeep and get a POS from them, This is my last Jeep from FIAT, We are in court now, Let you all know the out come of this, The dealer has had my Grand Cherokee for over six (6) months now and it has 1268 miles on it, So many problem with it, to list them would like a small book.

Re: Rattle Trap

Only rattle in my 2012 GC with 41K miles is some part-time noise from the back of the passenger seat or headrest. There's probably a wire loom in there that shifts around from time to time; I can (usually) stop the rattle for a while by banging on the plastic cover on the back of the seat. If I can figure out how to take the seat back off without breaking it, I'll probably do that and tie up the offending noise-maker. Other than that, it's surprisingly quiet for a 40K+ mile vehicle, especially on MI's bombed-out roads.

Re: Rattle Trap

If the back of your seat is like mine, just pull out on the bottom from each corner then push in at the top and down ward
