Re: Rattle Trap

I also noticed that many of my rattles come from the front roof console. (lights, glasses compartment, garage remote buttons)

Anyone have an idea how silence those?

Re: Rattle Trap

Just developed the tail gate rattle recently. I also have a new rattle on the rear passenger area inder the car.. nothing loose I can see or feel moving stuf by hand under the car.

As for the hood rattle there are some adjustments that can be done on thehood boltsto see is something has come loose.

My suggestion is to check all bolt monthly and tighten as needed. I have had my skid plate bolts get loose after 1000 miles or so. Iput some Lo tight blue on them and sill see if they stay tight.

Re: Rattle Trap

I just bought a new JGC Summit 2015 and with 200 KM I started hearing a rattel that seems to be coming from the small Twitter speaker and another when accelerating (like loose metal pert).
i will take it to the dealer for 1000 KM check up.

I had a rattel from the sunroof but managed to solve it using the sunroof thread in this forum

Re: Rattle Trap

update: I have taken the car to the dealer and the technician seems to be supprised of all the noises coming from the car.
they said it's going to take a while to figure out all the root causes and fix them.

Re: Rattle Trap

Sorry I failed to update. The passenger seat sound was narrowed down to where the upright bolster (for the back of the seat) was slightly rubbing the console. I ended up putting a piece of velcro (loop side) on the seat and that solved that.

As for the major rattle noise on the driver's A pillar... well it was sort of fixed. The dealership adjusted the hood stating it was rubbing the fender. That seems to have eliminated the majority of the sound but still if Eco is turned on I'll get a vibrating noise in the same area when the engine is under load. I've basically just started turning Eco off as I start the vehicle each time. I look pretty cool with a crooked hood while buzzing down the road too.

Re: Rattle Trap

Old quote, but seems appropriate. I have a 2015 Overland, right at 10K miles with the same sounding rattle/buzz. At about 900 - 1200 RPM, there's a transient rattle/buzz which sounds like it's coming from under dash. When you mention right side, is that when looking from the front or from the driver's seat.

Is it also correct that the unused bracket on the steering column was taken care of on the 2015 models (mine is late 2015).

it turned out being in the engine compartment. I took large zip tie on hose
in right side my back of engine and zip tied it up to a hose above it. Excuse
me but I don't have tread link but it under noise category.

I think the steering column bracket is the issue on my 2014 Overland but the dealer told me that TSB mentioning it doesn't apply to my model. So of course they didn't touch it.

Yet with the Jeep off if I tap/bang aggressively on the steering wheel I can hear it. It seems to be a vibration more than a rattle, hard bumps do not set it off whereas uneven terrain or even the engine at certain RPMs when cold will cause the noise to appear. It's a tinny type of noise, buzz like almost. Really would like to have the cause of this without them tearing my dash out. I am out of warranty but they have it on record they are still to fix it since they can't "find" it.

So poking around a bit, I was able to pull up on the driver side windscreen defog vents, which partially pulled them out, then reseated them. Currently, the buzz seems to have gone away. Hard to tell if this is a good fix, but at least seems to have identified the culprit.

Neither of your instances is correct.
Right and left is determined from sitting in the seat facing forward.
(Driver's side is two different locations in America compared to Australia and others) The universal standard of right and left crosses all countries.
